I applaud Wade for going all in with the absurdities allowed by the current system.

Didn't the track team pick up a 27 year old freshman last year or something?

Hey, if The Golden Band from Tigerland can have a 66-year old then, by God, the basketball team can have a 26-year old!

It's just different here. We have had a 30 yr old punter not long ago, a tuba player get minutes in basketball, and a 66 year old tuba player currently. Bring him on.

I find it hard to believe 5 mil on a player like this. Seems bullshite to me

He will be playing professional college basketball for LSU.

Why hasn’t the LSU media or university come out and announced any of these guys that has supposedly agreed to a deal or committed from overseas?

Yeah for 5 mil we could have had a number of guards around the country. No way he is getting 5 mil.

Probably because they still have to get passed the NCAA clearing house or whatever its called.

I feel like most of these numbers are BS unless we are spending $40 million on basketball this season. And if thats the case they better guarantee a final four ROI at this point. I doubt we have paid anyone over 4 million per year.

I have nothing to base this on other than using common sense, but I think the payroll IS $30-40 million, at least for year 1.
Wade pretty much said he had a blank check at the introductory press conference, and I bet the boosters had to commit that amount to get him to leave Raleigh.
Just speculation on my part.

After eye-balling some numbers based on some reports and others are just pure speculation. It looks like we could be sitting around 20-25 million on the roster just based on the ones that have been reported to have an agreement in place or have signed with LSU.
*Some of these have been reported and others are just a rough estimate based on what the other players are getting. Very few have been reported.
Brice Dessert - C 5-7 million
Marcio Santos - C/PF - 1 million?
Mo Dioubate - SF/PF? 1-2 million?
Saliou Niang - SF 7 Million
Abdi Bashir - SG 1-2 million?
Divine Ugochukwu - CG 600k?
Yam Madar - PG 5 million

So I don’t know if you saw the interview but Tyler Siskey talked about the NIL situation for all sports after Kiffin made the OM comments a week or so ago. What he said was that all these NIL reports are overinflated. A lot of it is for recruiting purposes, basically advertising for programs and players and that the actual numbers are much lower than what’s reported. He also said a lot of schools will underpay greatly on the deals they so make, some basically don’t really pay at all relatively speaking. Said they can get away with this based on the language and setups for some of these deals. Again this is a college coach giving his take on his experiences dealing with NIL so it is anecdotal to a point because he is including but not naming other coaches who’ve experienced similar situations. You have to remember that programs are not required to disclose NIL to the public or precisely to the NCAA. The numbers they give to the NCAA are percentages allocated off of a total they do have to report so individual and team specifics aren’t even given to them.
