Wade really needs to find a PG/floor general type now.

This team is front court heavy, and will need good guards to create shots for them. And good guards are what get you deep in the tourney, so hopefully Wade has some in his eyesight

Madar, Ugochukwu, Nunez, and Luis are the guards.

Still not convinced that Luis will be ruled eligible, so that leaves you Madar Ugo, and Nunez. Nunez is solely a depth piece. Averaged a little more than 2 assists per game last year and has had a 1:1 assist to TO ratio across his entire career. Ugo is a good player, but again really isn't an every day starter at guard. That leaves you with Madar who has been described by a few international basketball writers as solid but not really someone that you can anchor your offense around. This team is still missing a good ball handler to run the offense and set up the elite front court guys we have

I don't see any world in which Luis get cleared to play in. Wade has to have a plan in place for this. It’s worth a shot but I know he has to have other things going on behind the scenes to bring in some additional pieces.

Mouhamed Dioubate, F 6-7, 220 JR Kty.
Marcio Santos, F 6-8, 240 Brazil
Divine Ugochukwu, PG 6-3 JR mich. St.
Abdi Bashir, SG 6-7, 175 JR Kansas State
Brice Dessert, C 7-0, 245 France
Austin Nunez, PG 6-2, 170 SO UTSA
Michael Ruzic, C 7-0, 235 FR Croatia
This is the base team. Wade has two point guards. Ugochukwu is pretty good, Nunez was a top 70 player out of HS. Wade is not done yet.
If we get one of the 3 other players its a big win.

He wont be cleared by the NCAA, but if we have support from the local Judiciaries that wont matter. Injunctions, delayed hearings, appeals etc. We could conceivably lose the case next April and still get a full year out of these guys.

Abdi Bashir Jr

Take a look at Bashir Jr's highlights. Im not saying he's going to be our starting pg but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well he handles the ball & he has pretty good court vision too. I think alot of his skills were suppressed last year due to him playing with Haggerty who had the ball in his hands a lot!.

When I saw that he shot 44% from 3, I thought he was going to be a catch and shoot type of player. Dude has solid ball skills.

I do hope we get a full time floor general but if not I think Worldwide Will can make it work!

We have been linked to Sergio De Larrea and Matthew Strazel both really good Euro guards. De Larrea is currently in the draft process but he could potentially come to LSU. Strazel would be a contingency plan I believe but he could at least potentially come in and compete.

His situation is more in line with Charles Beadiko. Best case scenario is a local judge would grant a TRO. However, the T stands for "temporary". I suspect the permanent ruling would fall more in line with the Beadiko ruling.

If you want to make the argument, go ahead. However, if I were advising Wade I would tell him not to count on Luis being a part of the roster and to plan accordingly...which I'm sure Wade is.

Pipe dream;

Sergio de Larrea gets draft and stashed late 2nd round, and decides to come to LSU over staying in Europe/G League. Not sure who would get the nod at 4. Or does de Larrea run point and Bashir start at SG?

Hypothetical starting lineup

1: Ugochukwu or Madar (if cleared)
2: de Larrea
3: Niang
4: Dioubate/Ruzic
5: Dessert

I think getting Luis eligible is an uphill battle so I'm not counting him here.

What does this even mean? I guess I’m not familiar with all the point guards in professional leagues across the globe?

Is Divine Ugochukwu not a point guard?

Had a good one in Thomas that is now ironically going to be the PG of a team we play next season.

From people who are in the know, that's not the argument they intend to make. They will argue the rule itself, and if and the allowance of international pros and g leaguers to play pro ball and still be eligible then RJ Luis should be no different if he never stepped on an NBA court.

This is the reason for the backlash for Wade, what he is doing could kill any international ever playing CBB again or just bust this whole thing wide open. Hence this quote:

“You’re being an idiot a**hole for the sake of being an idiot a**hole. What you’re doing is f***ing it up for everyone else."

The NCAA rules allow a player to play college basketball (under certain conditions) even if they previously played in pro league (Euro, G-Leauge, etc) as long as they haven't previously played college basketball. That why guys coming to college directly from the G-League and international pro leagues are eligible...because they didn't previously play college basketball.

Luis doesn't fit that criterial. The NCAA also successfully argued in the Beadiko case that Beadiko was ineligible because he signed a NBA contract (2-way contracts are NBA contracts). Luis signed a 2-way contract with Utah. The NCAA's position is the signing of that contract is what made him ineligible...not actually playing any NBA games under it.

I understand how that case worked, but I also know from people who are highly familiar with the program the legal tactic will not be the same as that case. Allegedly it’s more about the validity of the rule where the bama case was akin to contract enforcement.

Not saying it will be a successful petition either.
