I watched the short on YouTube with Shaq saying he wasn't giving any money, and a reason was basically because of things like overpaying for bumbs like lsu did last year, or something too that effect. Don't know who else he'd be referring too

Take Luis out of the equation because I don’t think he will make it eligibility wise. None of the other guys are creators. With the front court you have, you need a guard who can create opportunities for those bigs. He has to get downhill and into the paint. Has to be able to operate the ball screen actions and get the ball to the right person.

Pretty wild assumption it was Thomas

How does anyone know we overpaid? I didn't realize they disclosed any NIL information like that. I mean, if he didn't want to overpay then he most certainly isn't helping pony up the money for the guys this year if the numbers are true.

It could’ve also been meant for Sutton. Another miss by McMahon.

Thomas was last year’s most heralded recruit and was done by February.

Maybe so, Thomas was Houston's most heralded recruit this offseason. Injuries happen.

Can't help but laugh at the truth I guess:

quote:

"DJ is a young man that we recruited out of high school. Of course, the point guard position here has probably been the strength of our program, from Galen (Robinson) to Dejon (Jarreau) to Milos. We've never not had a great point guard all the way through Kingston," Sampson said.

"Now we slide right on over to Dedan Thomas Jr. I think we'll just keep going," Sampson said. "DJ is a point guard's point guard. Can manage the game, understands the game at a freakishly high level. Very smart. Can get in the paint. Plays off his imagination."

"We had two or three point guards that were on the verge of committing," Sampson says. "And it's a good position to be in — to decide who you want to be your point guard."

How does any of that prove your original comment right?

Going by the ratings, Thomas as a transfer is rated behind a freshman coming in

The only thing that would prove that would be the fact that he is by far the highest rated transfer they got.

You would argue with a wall, you're telling me a true freshman coming in that's a Center(who usually take longer to develop) and probably won't play more than 20 minutes a game, is more heralded than an all-conference Senior PG, who he's already said is the strength of his program(a top 5 program in basketball)??

Not even worth discussing further.

I certainly wish we had Thomas, as he would be perfect for what Wade likes to do and could create for all these bigs

Good chance he doesn’t start for them. Most likely he’ll be a 6th man when they need a little offensive punch. They tend to get stuck on offense and usually their answer is to have a couple of chuckers on the wings. DJ can give them some better shot selection by spreading and moving the ball more smoothly but he isn’t a good enough defender to start for a typical Houston team. I could be wrong but if I had to bet that’s how they’ll use him.

He said that in the summer. Before the season started. Probably in reference to the 2024-2025 team.

These tall foreigners can handle the ball better than most PGs under the McCantWin regime. Except for Thomas Jr who was paid almost 300,000$ per SEC contest.

You're gonna keep an all-conference player who has averaged almost 15ppg and 5asts...for his career....to come off the bench? All the while a 6'1 Cryer, Shead, Sasser, all 3 of them smaller, "weaker defenders"... have not only started....but LEAD THE TEAM IN SCORING the past several years?

You are making guesses based on what? You are lost.

Zero facts to support it.

And people actually agree with you?

Sad.

Kind of why I said it. Your opinion is not very educated, but it's an interesting one. Kind of mind-boggling you would think Thomas would go to one of the best programs in the country for his senior year to sit the bench for one.

Why would he do that?

Two: Sampson looks to "keep going" with continued successes at PG:

quote:

"Now we slide right on over to Dedan Thomas Jr. I think we'll just keep going," Sampson said. "DJ is a point guard's point guard. Can manage the game, understands the game at a freakishly high level. Very smart. Can get in the paint. Plays off his imagination."

So why would you think he would bring him off the bench? All those good qualities he talks about, only to back up someone else? Help me understand.
