Tarik Biberovic Euro League Champion reportedly turns down WW.
Apparently Wade is shooting his shot to potentially make a Euro League all star team at LSU. These guys aren’t huge Will Wade fans but they admit if he can pull it off, it’s not something the college world has seen to this extent.

Kind of hard to get pumped up for a bunch of foreigners

Sure but according to these guys he would have instantly been the best shooter in the league. Would you rather lose games or have a foreign all star team for a year or two?

A white guy named Tarik

As opposed to what? Do you seriously think you’d be friends with any of the basketball players we recruit locally? Your only concern should be if they win games

I know, right? Imagine if one did something noteworthy, like win the AL Cy Young Award in back-to-back years. That’d be some shite, wouldn’t it?

A 25 yr old pro? I guess it's worth kicking the tires, given that 5-for-5 makes this the last chance to play college ball in the US for most of these guys. Wade said the roster might not be fully known until August. It's probably true since most of these guys have eligibility questions and will have to be cleared by the NCAA.

How many $7mm offers we throwing out there? Thats at least 3.
I dont believe it unless its for multiple years.

I randomly came across this story a couple of days ago, too, and I thought "geez, 7 million? Wade and his fundraisers must be putting in some serious work if they're able to even offer that, regardless of the players rejecting it."
Because I know LSU football has a lot of big donors, but it sounded like Wade was going to have to do a lot of groundwork to get money flowing into this program. People started off saying he's promised a a sizable NIL commitment, but then Wade denied that and people started saying the opposite.
If he can just get this program back up and running at a competent level, I think finding NIL support will be easy. I'd imagine that donors want to see what they're investing in first. Even though he won here before, the landscape has changed quite a lot.

Going to be very interesting to see how these guys translate if we build a team full of euro guys. I’d assume it’s a step down in competition, but it’s also probably a totally different pace and structure to the game.

I think people are throwing things out there for clicks at this point.

I've moved to viewing all the stuff coming out of Europe as clickbait nonsense. Wake me when we get some official announcements from LSU on guys signed and eligible to play.

CWW has found an edge. If we're paying money now, why get hustled by mediocre mid-major talent when you can recruit professional athletes? I'm all for a Euro-league allstar team. The college basketball world aint ready for a team filled with grown arse men professionals. Might as well make the G-League eligible for March Madness

Wade made an offhand comment that this is the last year we will likely be able to do something like this because of likely knew rules going into effect
So he is going to take full advantage while he can

Tarik definitely wouldn't have been for multiple years.

It's a different game and yes certainly a step down when we play the mid-majors and such in OOC.
Against SEC competition though not really much of a step down but a different look for them. SEC is loaded with talent nowadays (NBA/G-league/overseas league talent everywhere), the big difference is in their pro leagues they are playing much older on average folks who are going to be way more polished in their games....however they may not see collections of athletes like they have previously on some SEC teams we play. Again not necessarily finished product pure basketball players, but certainly some hoopers doing things they arent used to seeing over there as well who will ultimately be drafted into the NBA.
I think the hardest part is just adjusting to the type of game played in NCAA vs. what they are used to in euro leagues; its definitely different, but we are getting some really talented guys so far, so that transition is a bit easier than say a guy like Ron Zipper.

Agreed. If he was able to field a team with Montero, Biberovic, Dessert, and Niang they would have been filling up the arena and getting mad money from donors. That would have been a legit collection of Euro League guys. Hopefully he still can get some solid pieces maybe not an entire starting 5. But there are a lot of guys over there that are still playing that he could be waiting on.
