Wouldn't call it desperation. Maybe a donor stepped up and said pay whatever it takes. Just think of that team without these 2 guys. I don't blame them for trying to be relevant. It is other people's money. They get to choose.

I would not be upset if we paid more to get Stewart. As long as it is not coming out of my bank account.

So is paying 2 mil for a RB, the least valuable position not named K/P, yet many here are ready to pony up. Thats only 500 grand less(on average) than an established QB and a near elite DE. Eye of the beholder, assuming any of those numbers are factual.

Right. I'd rather pay 2 mil for dylan Stewart than 2 mil on lacy. If kiffin and his offense is that good you should be able to do the same with durham/berry or scout the next rb in the portal.

Sellers sucks. Every time I watch him, I’m thankful.

well it has been reported that LSU gave our QB 3.1 million

I was corrected when I said this number in front of a booster. He corrected me twice and said $5m.

Paying $2m for a RB is retarded. You can get 2 studs guards for that price and put me at RB for free.

I doubt USCe will get to seven wins. They are perennial losers and are lucky to be in the SEC where they get monies through the efforts of others making it to bowl games. I feel sorry for their head coach, who is a fine coach. He’s stuck in a place with very little success other than WBB. USCe is the burial ground of many fine head coaches such as Detzell, Spurrier, and Holtz.

Not surprised . Beamer is coaching for his career.

Here’s the issue with that- they need a lot of help across their roster. They won’t be able to afford that now after spending this much for two players, even as important as those two positions are.

I live in Charleston and know some Cock fans that are decently plugged in. They said it is pretty well known Sellers got around $3.5, and they think for Stewart to not even put his name in the portal to see what he would get, it was more than Sellers

USCe is a weird program. They really don’t care about winning but they want to stay close and have a few good guys on the league

Sure, but don’t be dumbasses and heavily over pay 2 players and then can’t afford hardly anybody else worth a shite. Sellers for dang sure didn’t deserve near that much.

Should they just not try to compete

What happens when S Carolina has 3 losses with 3 or 4 games to go. Do those players still play? Do they still get their money even if a 5 loss team still has their Clemson game to play and they sit out?

Not really! It’s two of their best players and they did what they had to do to keep them. Otherwise, they would have to spend the same or more on two new players that don’t know the team, system, and coaches. That’s important too.
This is no different than any other team. It’s their money, let them spend how they choose.

LSU is doing the same, so don't think other clubs are throwing the money out there to keep the big dogs on current roster. The schools that really want to keep a player will usually win out by throwing the money. The dollar signs will only get worse in years to come.

Well, assuming you slit that to $2.5M each.... that's MONEY.
