i never thought i'd say this, but maybe LSU's NIL budget isn't as adequate as it seemed

big difference between adequate and wise. Even though you have the money, it doesn't mean you spend it. You still want value.

lol okay. Do you see Texas and Oregon just buying everyone out despite price? No. Teams have a valuation they put on players and at some point, even the richest opt out.

LSU paid Nuss 2 million to quit on the team and fake an injury. That's top-level stupidity!! And you guys have the nerve to make fun of SC for keeping kids that finished the season, ya'll brains should be studied.

lol good lord. Have you considered that teams value certain positions and players differently? Also, South Carolina will gladly overpay bc we just stole their best coach. They’re pissed. They weren’t letting Stewart come here

They’ll go 4-8 again and nobody will care. Good for Stewart for getting paid.

We have an elite head coach. It’ll be ok

Let's say they have $15M payroll, they decided that these two guys are worth 33% of it? Bold move, cotton. Perception is everything now, I guess.

To be fair, I think they have to. It’s South Carolina. They’ll have a harder time attracting talent, especially without those two. Since they are already there it makes sense to secure them. Saving that money and then not having to those two could just make them an even worse football team. Just because they have money doesn’t mean they can get all the talent they would need to compete better next season.

Their fans should be thrilled they did whatever was needed to retain those two key players.

That's a crazy level of desperation

So is paying 2 mil for a RB, the least valuable position not named K/P, yet many here are ready to pony up. Thats only 500 grand less(on average) than an established QB and a near elite DE. Eye of the beholder, assuming any of those numbers are factual.

Thought it would be more honestly. Would guess Sellers got at least $ 3 milly and then Stewart got around $2 mill.
Nah, this about what I expected. My surprise is that other people are actually surprised by this. A lot of people know that Sellers's talent is #1 overall worthy. We've seen what he's capable of when he has some talent around him too. Plus, the going rate for a good QB out the portal is at least 2 mill. Did anybody see what a mediocre Calzada got at Kentucky?

Now for Stewart, it was 2 mill or more. The guy was already making 1-1.5 mill in his 2nd year. Nowhere to go but up.

Beamer will be canned after next season. Book it.....
I remember saying earlier in the year when VT fired their coach, that Beamer needs to leave USCe and go back home. Crazy that he won't even get the luxury to do that now.

over paid for Beck last round.

Miami is in the quarterfinals, and they needed a QB to get there. I think they're probably going to be very pleased with their investment, especially if they win their next game

Well LSU supposedly paid 2 or 3 mil for Nuss... which deal sounds the craziest to you?

He was lucky to get next year imo and yes, he should have made that move.

That's the problem with South Carolina. I listened to one of their podcasts when discussing LSU getting their DL coach and their concern Stewart may go to LSU. They made it very clear South Carolina is not all in on paying top dollar for an entire roster as well as total caches salaries. They made it very clear that South Carolina will pay big for 2 guys (Sellers and Stewart) to create the illusion that they want to win. The overall amount of money spent is not at a level that will compete for championships.

Alot of good those two will do when they're the only above average SEC players on the team.

Lane wanted Dylan and thought he’d get him when he got our defensive line coach. We kept Stewart and upgraded the defensive line coach drastically. We should be thanking LSU actually!

Honestly even if he fails there, I think he will get another job because that is a hard place to win and he’s already proved his coaching chops with some decent seasons there.
