He wouldn’t have to be to stand out in this current WR room. Watkins is a good SEC player in a slot role. Harris should be fine, but hasn’t really stood out yet. Brown has been completely MIA. Wright has looked good for the most part, but who knows how long he’s out for. It doesn’t look good there at the moment.
I know Leavitt has missed some opportunities, but this is an offense that has typically excelled in creating space and we’ve also seen several plays where we aren’t seeing anyone besides Green with any separation. The WR room definitely hasn’t lived up to the billing so far.
Darby may not be a star, but like Wright, he likely would have fit in well and had a role here as a young player. Not the end of the world, but it feels like a small miss early since it probably wouldn’t have been difficult to retain him.

This is an accurate evaluation of our receiver room. Essentially, we have a bunch of role players. We don’t have a 1. There’s a reason true WR 1s get paid. There’s only so much a coach can do scheme-wise, eventually a player has to make a play. Green is obviously an elite player and he splits out a good bit, but he doesn’t stretch the field and he’s more valuable to the offense (especially the run game) as a TE.

Our Wr room was ranked an A+ by experts. You only say this because he is from Louisiana and you saw him make plays for another team. Lsu will be fine without Kenny darby

Chalky, I totally agree. Every year I have certain recruits that I really was looking forward to becoming Tigers. In this past class, it was Deuce Geralds and Kenny Darby and Edwards, who we might see Saturday night.

Bro, why do yall do this? Nobody is saying that. He's a Louisiana kid, that had no QB his senior year, didn't have a great statistical year, and ended up at another SEC school and is moderately contributing to a better than everyone thought Kentucky team. Its ok to want to keep those kids in state. Just like Zavion Thomas, Tre Harris, Nate Sheppard, we chose to not take them.

And that’s great I’m all for Louisiana kids succeeding and love when they do it for LSU. But the whole point of this thread was saying it was the wrong move meaning he’s better than. Our WRs. Which going by actual facts there’s no way of knowing this.
