That seems like a very odd move. Seemed like he was a key piece to their run next year and Lane would come up with whatever amount he was trying to extort out of them.

Yeah, that almost HAS to be for NIL/pay for play. You leave a successful team as the star running back. Unless there is a family member sick in Alabama or something, this has all the signs of the old Johnny Manziel motion with his hands...rubbing his fingers together.

Has to be NIL related. These young guys see the money being thrown around and if an unproven guy gets more money than them, they don't have the maturity bandwidth to deal with it.
