Literally ever major LSU head coach came to the pre-event. Less than a 100 people. Wade. Kelly. Johnson. Mulkey. You name em. Woodward plus other leadership. They were there. Hundreds of businesses represented. Talking to some folks in the know. Majority of the deals are not at the level you think. Apparently smartphone app called Match Point is the main player in connecting players and businesses/brands right now. One example deal was $1,000 per month. Another was an event where players get $500 for showing up. Wild Wild West. Need to get our game up to snuff with A&M and others.

That works for the gymnastics team but that ain't gonna cut it in football.

Didn’t Hanagriff go to work for Match Point with Henry Hayes?

That probably was the intention,

But A&M and others have other intentions.

Am I correct in assuming that most NIL deals are to be set up to pay monthly or in some other incremental way instead of just a big lump sum of cash? For instance Mathews was rumored to be offered $450000, but it seems likely that this would be the total amount of the deal that would be payed out over time if he stayed for 3 years.

Don’t shoot the messenger. Current big players like Gordon. Brandon L. BBQ Guys. You name it from our community were there. Gotta get our cash together quickly though to keep up. Taf can’t get involved in the deals now bc of Louisiana law which they are working to change.

Jimmy Smith was on WWL this evening talking about it. The deals aren’t given to any player up front. They’re paid in 3 & 6 month increments. The example he used was they get a little bonus to sign. Then at the end of spring ball you get a check. Then the beginning of the season you get a check. Then at the end of the season you get a check. And they have the right to pull the NIL contract for any reason. And they are signing contracts like professional athletes. Aggy has an entire team of lawyers setting up LLC’s for the bigger recruits and handling taxes and stuff like that.

When you hear Jimbo say they’ve never paid for a recruit he’s absolutely correct. The Aggy network is humming in the shadows.

Happens when you're a small state, small market, and don't have a lot of major big businesses you can work with in Louisiana I guess.

If college football is allowed to run uncontrolled with NIL and we end up in a pay for player participation, does this mean we pay our head coaches less? Seems like average coaches could be hired if I spend millions getting the best athletes.

Those are the generic deals that real local companies are giving out.

arse&m set up fake shell companies and had people donate.

The players will get these generic deals too but the slush fund got them to commit.

These deals are more for the players already on campus.

You are correct! And also less money will be donated to the university so cost hikes will eventually trickle down to the fans.

Clear pay to play, has nothing to do with the name image and likeness of the player. Complete bullshite and NCAA has to stop it.

A&M is just dropping bags of cash. There isn't any NIL to it. Sure there may be some, but bags of cash is Jimbo style.

Yeah clear pay to play is basically the only caveat / rule. The player must return a service for the cash. Can be taking a picture. Commercial. Social media posts for you. Some level of service. One interesting example was say you got the baseball players to come valet cars for you at an event. $500 per player. The player is more than likely just gonna be sitting around their apartment. Why not come make $500 and engage with the fans.

If you think about it for what it is, schools up north and out west would get all the recruits. That’s where the real money is in this country is located. Luckily for us they are not football crazy like us, but if they ever figure it out the entire SEC will be on the outside looking in.

Where is Todd Graves in all this? I feel like he would have more money than all of them.
