re: Austin Simmons future outlook

I remember watching the first half of the Kentucky game...had a couple of really bad INT's early. He's got kind of a long throwing motion but he's pretty accurate and he runs well. Havent really watched enough of him to pick his game apart but I'm sure CLK has seen enough of him to make the correct eval. Chambliss is better in most aspects from what I've seen, and that is surely why CLK kept him as starter over Simmons.

We'll know a little more after the Oklahoma game but just using the current eye test I think next years starters will be Adams LT, Curne LG, Echols C, many options at RG (Thomas, Davis, Mubenga, Chester) and Williams RT. Weston Davis is the most physically gifted lineman we have but the he has many parts of his game to improve on before he is a legit SEC lineman.

We need a better plan on short yardage and goal line. I was heartened when we went wildcat early in the game with Johnson. We gained 5 or 6 yards but never went back to it. You would think with our short yardage struggles it would become a bigger part of our offense.
re: What are your legit worries now that we are 2 weeks in?

Injury luck usually plays a big part of any championship run. Getting the wrong injury at the wrong position can be crippling. At this point the top 5 people we could least afford to lose would be:
1) Nuss
2) Moore
3) Green
4) Durham
5) Adams
These are the positions we dont really have a strong replacement available. I think most every other postion group can survive an injury. At least the injuries to Moore and Green dont appear to be season ending so we should be ok for now.

Realistically, how many receivers should be in the regular rotation?

We obviously have more WR's on our roster that are talented, than we have game reps to give them. It would seem that trying to play too many would make it more difficult for Nussmeir to establish timing with all of them. In the end our coaches will decide the best path forward but it would seem getting the balance right will be a challenge.

Just checked my channel guide, it's showing it will be on espn2.

My favorite from Friday was when they used a shot of the flags in center to show how hard the wind was blowing and he said "if Christopher Colombus woulda had that wind at his back he would have gotten here in 1491"!
re: Secondary lineup with the addition of Cooley (my opinion )

I think at least ONE of Toviano, Spears or Rodgers develop enough to start at one of the safety spots. Also the "Star/Nickel position in 2024 was manned by Perkins until his injury and then Burns after that. Now that Perkins will be back we are not sure which way Baker is leaning on that and it may end up being a situationally based rotation of a few players.

re: 12 playoff teams - Dual Threat starting QB?
Posted by lsuexpert57 on 1/1/25 at 3:49 pm to Lapaz
I think Brees would be a good comp for Nuss. Short in stature, quick release, accurate, atheletic but doesnt run much.
re: Tylen Singleton...He looked good yesterday.
Posted by lsuexpert57 on 1/1/25 at 3:45 pm to BrownTrout
I only noticed him on one play...it was late in the 3rd I think...he failed to cover the back on a swing pass that went for about 20yds. It looked mostly due to inexperince.

He's really a stud at WR but with our current roster i'm not sure if he would be worth a massive bag. Bigger need at safety and OL. We'll see what the coaches think.

re: So Frazier is starting at RT for the bowl game
Posted by lsuexpert57 on 12/24/24 at 2:24 pm to sunnydaze
Im pretty sure Frazier started for us at RT in 2022 the first two games. Emery Jones took over after that and that was all she wrote!
What is our projected two deep depth chart for the Texas Bowl?

Hopefully Sloan will install a red zone package featuring Van Buren. A running threat at QB puts a lot more pressure on a defense inside the 10.

Didn't they change the 85 man roster limit for 2025? I thought it was moving to 100.

West Weeks got some snaps against Vandy...so is he now done for the season?
Posted by lsuexpert57 on 11/26/24 at 12:21 am
I was under the impression that they wanted to preserve his redshirt this year so he could return next year. Vandy was the 4th game he has played in this year so he can play no more snaps if he wants to redshirt.

The most memorable rain game i ever sat through was the 79 bama game that ended 3-0. I only sat though til about midway of the 3rd quarter when my wife threatened me with divorce if we didnt leave right then!
