It passing was probably a foregone conclusion. However, it is applying "retroactively" to players who have used up their eligibility prior to the rule change seemed like a bridge too far. There would no doubt be lawsuits on behalf of such players, but I sure as hell wouldn't focus the entirety of my roster building strategy on that.

Not really, some of those guys are probably still in school so it wouldn't really be a bridge too far to retroactively give them more eligibility. We're only a couple of weeks removed from the season ending, the NBA Draft hasn't happened yet, I don't think, and school is still in for a couple of weeks. The only issue really would be that the transfer portal is closed, everybody would essentially habe to become a free agent. It could be done. Now should it? I can't really say, I don't have a strong opinion either way.

Players who’ve declared for the draft have until May 27th to withdraw but you also have the new rule where you can sign with a team and depending on your contract can decide to come back to college if you have eligibility left like the Baylor kid this year.

I think the seniors would win in court, but when would that ruling be? July? October?

Talk about playing Russian Roulette...

That’s the thing, you can’t on one hand say it’s ok to go to JUCO, it not count, play until you’re 24-25 then turn around and tell a kid who reclassified in HS he can’t play at 21 years old. Dunno how that holds up in court with the floodgates they’ve already opened.

I imagine it goes something like this:

1-Wade has guys who’ve agreed to deals.
2-NCAA votes on rule for next season
3-Suits for TRO filed by schools/players in every state stating harm to these players if they’re not allowed to earn under the contracts, especially in light of NCAA creating a rule that will allow players in same position to play next season
4-TROs granted allowing 5-5 immediately
5-NCAA appeals, loses, players play, suit dismissed at some point

At least this is how I HOPE it goes. Not an atty, so my terminology and process likely not perfectly correct.

Who has hired McMahon? Such a great coach, right?

Is he on staff at Kansas, Michigan or Duke? I forgot.

So you’re knock on him before was that he’s a terrible coach and only won because he had better players than everybody else, because he cheated.

So can we agree now that he will not have the best talent in the SEC next year? So that way when he wins, you’ll have to find a new excuse.

I love how she says “scrubs” but she has probably never played competitive basketball ever.
