I’m not sure why it’s shocking Miller would cost a reported $1mil. 6’10” with a 7’5” wing span, athletic and has some touch. You see the biggest jump in players going into year 3. As much shite as everyone gave McMahon you would think that potentially he was not getting the most out of these players, to begin with.
He has the size and touch but zero toughness. But we are talking about last yr when he was going to play for 300k. You let him walk for 1 mil and find a player from a different league to replace him.

Wade a guy known for finding talent recruiting and developing it has completely forgotten how to do that all of a sudden.
Or maybe Wade understands a process like Kiffin is having to build a full roster.
We just went through this 4/5 months ago with football, tons of talk of the portal very slow even with a massive roster and then picked up steam and had some top talent along with good depth pieces.
Wade knows we need 8-9 dependable players, even with a big NIL budget if you don’t plan through that you end up top heavy with no bench and your fricked.
The lack of information is making people lose their minds but it’s a good sign we aren’t having leaks all over. If this was MM the anxious shite would be justified considering his track record.
The memory of some of our fans is less than a gold fish. In the last 6 months we had the Kiffin hire, the slow methodical start to the portal only to get 43 guys including the top qb LT and edge rusher, plus a ton of strategic depth. Then we had the pieces lining up to grab Wade all while people screamed it would never happen because they couldn’t recognize the pieces going in. Now here we are on day 8 of the portal with us needing 13-15 guys and we are going to freak out everytime a name drops off like there isn’t plenty of good players, also ignoring that plenty of teams have build rosters different ways. If the portal closes for entries and we also don’t have McNeil then I’d start to be curious of what’s going on.

Was Wilkinson linked to Arkansas pre commitment? Was it public knowledge he was on campus for a visit? I didn’t see anything about it.
If this was a surprise to the public (maybe it wasn’t and I missed it), I could see Wade operating similarly where first or many portal commitment(s) occurs of nowhere and the public had no idea talks or visits were happening.

$1mil is not that much, if LSU is truly funding the program like it is being reported.
You keep getting caught up in the money (which likely isnt even being accurately reported), but there are many factors relative to each program which determines what is "a lot" and what is "a little". The two most important obviously being 1)allocated money and 2) Roster openings

I feel like there hasn’t been a lot of smoke, but to be honest I’m not checking everyone’s Twitter but my guess is if news was flowing quickly it would be here. It seems like it’s been very tight lipped portal

Seems to be. I’m expected out of nowhere signings for us similarly considering the lack of rumors. Think the quietness is a symptom of quiet portal strategy with some big lands soon.

Wade also alluded to poor personality fit and frustration with buyin from his team last year and stated he wouldn’t make that mistake again. I wonder if the apparent slower start to portal season is related to more deliberate character vetting to some point too.

As soon as a coach identifies their portal players BEFORE they are signed, everyone begins focusing on who the coach selected and thinks about whether they want to poach them. Best to remain quiet.

The reported ~12 million he's getting for NIL will not get us a top tier roster this year. That would've been great last year, but this year the contenders are paying 2-4 million for each starter.
