This is the last time I am going to address you "stay on topic" drooling morons. The easiest way to get back on topic and move on. Is to do it. Move on. There are at least twice as many interrupting posts because of idiots saying to stay on topic.
Seems as if everyone did move on....until you posted this.
Ole Thread Sheriff.

Does the new 5 for 5 ruling for the 2022 class mean Clark is back to being ineligible?
Posted on 8/21/26 at 10:38 am to Aforem7
This is a frickin mess
How in the world did the ncaa really think they were going to get away with this 5 for 5 ruling without it going to this years senior crop
The NCAA is a frickin clown show and they allow themselves to be because of dumb crap like this

I'm just not understanding why it is such a big deal to the NCAA that a group of seniors who were actively seniors in school when the new rule was conceived and approved (though it did not go into effect at that time) would have the new rule applied to them. I would understand it more if this was the 2020 class or players who were already out of school when the rule was created that would open the door for a tidal wave of previous players to have an extra year, but again the players being discussed were actively enrolled when the rule was developed. Just seems dumb that they would be excluded in my opinion

It does seem dumb
If you were gonna make the rule like that, you should have waited til the FALL SEMESTER to announce it

Dent and Clark are still eligible under the California TRO

If so good news

Thank you for the clarification. What terrible times for the NCAA when you need a law degree to understand who is on your roster

How can college athletics be fixed?

I know who the lawyers are on all of the boards now because of this.

This is true, though I'm not sure if Dent can legitimately trasnfer...YET. Clark is fine. I could be wrong though, it's impossible to keep up.

Dent can transfer. He was not eligible to transfer under the Colorado case, which is now stayed. He gained the ability to transfer via the California case.
Of note, Keyshawn Hall is now ineligible because both the Colorado and Ohio cases have been stayed.

Does it matter that Dent didn't enter the portal until this month?

The original model wasn't broken regarding eligibility...it was broken regarding how players earned money.
I think the pendulum got swung too far the other way and now it's a worse system than before.
What happened with Terrelle Pryor, for example, for getting paid to sign autographs, that should have been allowed.
18-year olds getting $2-3m, absolutely not.
You should have 5 years to play 5. You should only be able to transfer once without redshirting.
Should maybe some things like LSU selling Honey Badger type of gear be profitable Tyrann Mathieu when he played...sure.
Shoudl players be able to earn money on their own outside of playing...fine with a limit.
In no way should professional athletes, whether in Europe, G-League, or NBA SL be allowed to return to college. A pro contract whether multiple millions of dollars or a few thousand is a pro contract. Hell, Chieck Diallo just signed with St. Bonaventure. He played a year at Kansas and multiplle years in the NBA and has played for years in Europe.
BROKEN

No. The California case gave him the ability to transfer now.

Don’t let the 25% from 3 last year fool you. That was an outlier and even if he does shoot that again, he’s a really really good point guard and is exactly what this team needs

I thought I saw where Dent signed with Gonzaga?
