I don’t recall a college player “withdrawing” from the draft. Can only recall it being done by high school players.

AYS report suggests formal withdrawal via paperwork thru the MLB commissioner but I’m still skeptical given the source. Unless he’s stricken from the rolls of draftable players (which is what AYS is reporting), this still could be a leverage move.

Proceeding cautiously optimistically.

If Milam is coming back we have to be done with portal IF. Now let’s get some LHP

Or we move Pearson to 1b and Braun to the OF

I know Pearson isn't a lock and has some development needed, but Jay loves those pearsons

Lol. We have the chance at Santarelli/Adams, Braun plays 1B, Serna can as well. We are not moving Pearson to 1B.

We are gonna snag 1 more OF in the portal and be done on the position side. Our CF right now is either Patrick or a freshman, which is the only fright right now.

If we could somehow, someway still get Federico to LSU to play CF this is an astonishingly good transfer class.

Playing catch up a little bit here but is it that outlandish to push Ruckert into the OF to get him some AB? At least for this season?

There’s also other ways to do it (assuming everyone makes it to campus) like DHing Kurland and having Bide/Serna splitting reps at 1B and Braun in the OF. Obviously that’s not the best defensive lineup. Just a thought.

Need Anthony Murphy to take the Derek Curiel route. I believe he can be a day 1 starter in CF. I also don't want to give up on William Patrick. He is too athletic and explosive. When it all clicks for him he will be really good.

I think most of us here fully believe we will get one of those top 3 HS outfielders to withdraw from the draft selling them on a day 1 position at CF or a corner OF spot. Btw I hope it’s him.

Hasn’t LSU had players withdraw before?

Usually it's incoming recruits though.

No, but this was the rumor for a while. Ole Miss getting to Omaha definitely threw a wrench in those plans, eerily similar to what happened in football a few months ago.

Kurland has also officially removed his name from the draft. Our infield is set.

Wow, That is very surprising. I was not optimistic at all with him actually getting to LSU.

I complained about our infield depth yesterday, and less than 24 hours later, we've gotten locked-in commits from two of the best middle infielders in the SEC haha.

I'd rather 2-4 years of Ruckert versus 1 from Kurland.

The next best thing outside of high caliber MLB talent is age & experience. The 2023 team showed this with guys like Jobert, Dugas and Beloso.

Ruckert may be a decent player one day but he is a dime a dozen in the grand scheme of things.

LSU is betting they can fill 2 spots between Park/Kurland/Ruckert/Freshmen. I like it
