As I like to mention often, every year besides '26 Jay has been able to snag 1 player from the Team USA CNT roster. Those players have ended up arguably being a Top 3 player on each roster.

'21 CNT --> '22 Season: Jacob Berry
'22 CNT --> '23 Season: Paul Skenes
'23 CNT --> '24 Season: Luke Holman
'24 CNT --> '25 Season: Anthony Eyanson
'25 CNT --> '26 Season: None (go figure)

Given Joe Doyle's tweet about the initial invite list, realistic candidates to BOTH hit the portal and be pursued by LSU include:
- Tague Davis; Need I say more.
- Aidan Flinn; 6'6" Lefty, 0.832 WHIP, '28 elg. No brainer here.
- Landon Hairston; Hairy Bonds for a reason.
- Rett Johnson ; Gotta say not a fan of the 5'9" frame, but doesn't strike out much, top 30 OBP in the country, 14 stolen bags.
- Gavin Kelly; I don't think he would portal but since Tigahs14 had him on a list I'll include him. Baseball America's new #1 prospect for the 2027 draft
1. Balancing recruiting while deep in the offseason has clearly been a struggle for not just Jay, but other contenders the same years as well.

2. We weren’t as financially competitive as we were led to believe we were for last cycle. Just had us budget shopping at nearly every position

3. Because of that, we missed on season changers like Reddeman, Volchko, Advincula, Robbins (not even sure if we were after him).

4. We probably expected a few other guys to enter the portal who were swayed to stay because schools figured out before we did the importance of allocating $$ on retention. I’m thinking Ohman, Ballinger, Bogenpohl, etc.

I have a hard time considering Mikey Ryan would come back, but Ty Head I like. .572 SLG w/ 22K/56BB
Everyone talks about the HR leaders in the country being underclassmen. Any one of them we should actually expect to hit the portal? I’m talking
- Tague Davis (7th in OPS)
- Hunter Ray (9th in OPS)
- Quinton Coats (20th in OPS)
- Landon Hairston (1st in OPS)
- Blake Primrose (2nd in OPS)
- Braydon Kersey (65th in OPS)
- Jett Music (8th in OPS)
No reason, just guys who fit the bill for what Jay likes. West coast ties, underclassmen, all-conference performers, great K:BB ratio. Fun to speculate
What do we think about this pair of Zags...

Karsten Sweum; WCC pitcher of the year, low-mid 90s LHP. 108K/34BB in 77.1IP, .217 b/avg.

Landon Hood; WCC freshman of the year. RHP w/ 70k/19BB in 47.2 and a .169 b/avg.

Patrick as a RHH replacement in the OF

In his August presser, Jay put an importance on "finding the SS after Steven", mentioning he felt comfortable with both Ruckert and Claude at 2B. Feels like which ever one is further along will get some chances to have a role at 2B.

This offense should definitely run into more long balls than 25'. You've got quite a few power threats with 20 HR ceilings in Pearson, Simpson, Caraway, and Arrambide, with others like Milam, Curiel and Brown all capable of up to 15.

Pitching depth is actually better than last year too.

The transition from 25' to 26' will be a lot prettier than 23' to 24' was. We have a real shot to repeat with this roster.

I think Arrambide will be the surprise for many.

You're very right about this, but it shouldn't be that way. Jay has been calling him the guy with the highest upside & future face of the program during the offseason.

Last player he did that with after their freshman year? Ethan Frey.

Zack Yorke-20

Yorke will not hit anywhere near 20 homeruns

quote:

Brayden Simpson-8

Simpson is the most likely to lead the team in HR

quote:

Eddie Yamin IV-1

Yamin will have a much larger role than this

quote:

Steven Milam15
Jake Brown-15

Eh 12-13 for each

With that being said; keep the baseball posts coming. 4 days until Fall Ball

:dude:
Cade Arrambide will start getting some LF reps in the Fall. Obviously if Stanfield is back you have no problem trotting your entire National Championship winning outfield back out there again.

Ideal scenario is Cade’s bat develops to the point where he needs to be in the everyday lineup, catches twice a weekend and then once at OF/DH.

I can hear Ben McDonald all over this. "I always say... SPIN EM' if you GOT EM'"
For sure. There's a ton of suitors at 1B, and if you think Jay would put Bear Jones at 3B and Brady Neal in RF, you better believe Brown will get some real reps at 1B in the fall.
Trent Caraway didn't get drafted... I really hope he's target #1
Why would Stanfield not come back, get his degree, earn some NIL, then sign UDFA for the same amount next year. Seems like a no brainer.
White Sox take Jaden Fauske at 44
