He indeed was a die hard LSU Fan
His actions don’t really show this- he could have committed early to LSU but didn’t. Instead he’s had like 3 different out of state schools rumored to be leading his recruitment.
Which is fine, he’s allowed to look at all his options. And LSU looked at their options and decided they wanted another guy who is a damn good QB who knew where he wanted to be.

I didn’t get why Haven wasn’t getting pushed by LSU
Because we already have the better qb committed. Haven is extremely talented and physically gifted. Prototype qb build and athleticism BUTTTT he’s not that good of a qb. He can’t anticipate throws and he folds like a lawn chair when being hit by a safety half his size. He’s not a ball player as May who have played will understand that meaning.
Hopefully he gets better and can be coached up but at this point he’s a project

5 stars and high 4 stars don’t want to sit for a year much less 2 or 3. LSU could’ve pushed but Haven and Pop aren’t sitting behind Longstreet.

Outside of Underwood at Michigan (which was and appears to continue to be a disaster) which major QBs have started and been successful as TF?
Maybe Caleb Williams and Trevor Lawrence?
Nearly all QBs sit a year, even the ultra elite 5* kids.
Just look at Bama:
Tua: sat behind Hurts
Bryce: sat behind Mac
Russell: sat behind Ty
Haven will sit for a year and will then either compete with KR for the starting job or with the other younger QBs to replace Keelon.
Either way, progression path to starting is clear, whether he out competes Thomalla (5*), Kaawa (3*) and Seaborn (4*) is all on him.
But I agree they get antsy if they dont have an opportunity to compete for a starting job after sitting their first year.

Crazy, this kid wanted to be at LSU, lifelong fan
Lifelong fan my arse.
If he wanted to be here, he would be here, but he showed zero interest over the last year. Was his NIL number high AF? Maybe, but if you’re a lifelong fan, you take less and go to LSU vs taking more and heading to its biggest, recent rival.

Pre-portal/NIL, sure.
They are not sitting more than a year moving forward.

He better take a big step because KR can sling it.

Portal Era so he’ll go to 3 schools in 3 years and most likely out of the SEC

He will break all of Holstein's records for sure.

If we ever need him, Lane will just go get him....that's how he operates!

I suspect they don't want to end up in a situation where out of necessity they have to fight an NIL battle for a top tier portal QB where the asking price might be $8M for a guy they think is only really worth $5M out of desperation.
I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. LSU, out of necessity, just signed the #1 and #7 transfer portal QB's as well as a 2 year starter from the next level down.

I thought he had already committed to them months ago

I'm obivously not saying you cant be successful signing QBs out of the portal, I'm just saying Bama doesn't want to do that at the QB position.
Its just a different approach to roster management and NIL spending.
Anyhow, appreciate the information on Haven from everyone who responded, Ill see myself out haha.

He might have grown up an LSU fan, but there has not been a single point in his recruitment where he was an LSU lean. He was a heavy Florida lean until the Napier firing and then a heavy Bama lean shortly afterward.
When you have a talent like Pop Houston in state who wants to be at LSU, committed early, and is recruitng for LSU, why would LSU then spend a ton of energy pushing to get a kid who hasn't reciprocated any dire interest in being an LSU tiger?

he didn't... literally, NEVER was an LSU fan... much in the same way the none of us have probably ever been an Idaho Vandals or San Jose State Spartans fan... to us, they are just another college football program, that none of us give second thought to... same with Haven and LSU... the "weird" part or the part that people here, LSU Fans, can't seem to accept and/or understand, is how someone who is from Louisiana, born and raised, can NOT be an LSU fan, when clearly, they (any random LSU fan) likely had the same backstory, and if given the chance they'd kill their own mother for a chance to play for the Tigers...
but make no mistake, he has never once been an LSU fan growing up, not now, not ever... just is what it is.... accept it, and move on... we will be fine without him...
