Kind of a slow period and I’m bored, so I was just wondering what are some of your favorite (good or bad) recruiting sagas over the years?
I was just a lurker at the time, but the Joe McKnight announcement day was wild. Joe kind of spoiled the announcement with that outfit
USC was stacking running backs back in those days.

I was pretty sick about the Mckight announcement and i kept thinking that Saban would have been ahead of the USC/Pete Carroll tactics. He was a good player but LSU didn’t miss out on the next Reggie Bush so that softened the blow.

looking back on things Kevin Faulk might have been one of the higher profile recruitments before it became such a spectacle
Also, I remember the Josh Booty hype was real at that time before all the social media and the fact that baseball came into play
He was even more hyped over Peyton and Eli recruitments but the Mannings did play things close to the vest

Didn’t involve LSU, but the kid who committed to Oregon (who he did not have an offer from) over a bevy of other schools (who he did not have offers from) in a big signing day ceremony at his school was peak recruiting to me

Carencro Hs coach took the faulk family to his visit at Florida State. Drove. He went north to I-20 and over driving at night. Made the trip seem like the longest ride in history.

The 5 for 5 episode was a blessing in disguise for me because that was the day I swore off putting myself through the agony of watching those stupid January all star games. I haven’t tuned in to one since.
The Janzen Jenson saga pissed me off at the time but that was a dodged bullet, no pun intended. That scenario was orchestrated by our friends at the firm of Kiffin, Orgeron, and Wilson.
This year’s signing date was fun, one of the most enjoyable since the old Bayou Bash days at the Sheraton atrium.

Joe McKnight saga was a nightmare. Faked like I was sick and called my dad from school to hear what happened. By far the worst day. I know he wound up not meeting those expectations but in that moment was devastated

Back in the day it was the Johnny Hector battle with TAM. That laid the foundation for the TAM hate by LSU fans. 1979 and he was one of the highest rated RB in the country. Somehow TAM got him and that was the beginning of the rivalry with TAM.
