Title says it all. My house backs up to water and I’m absolutely tired of the spiders and bugs that are taking over my back porch. The spiders are insufferable and I’m determined to nuke every one of them within my property and keep them gone.

Suspend SC is one of the few pesticides that repel spiders and it has almost no smell. I've been using it for years with good results but there may be something better out there now.

Onslaught FastCap is good on spiders and is effective against many other insects. This is a link to their info label. LINK

Suspend sc for inside the house & under the porch. Rain will wash away tho. Talstar outside works great as well.

If you are in the baton rouge area I would broadcast some Talstar. You can get the granules from Shenandoah hardware. Then follow up with some Suspend SC around the outside of the house. When I lived in Shenandoah that's all I used and it worked fine.

I started spraying Taurus SC (Fipronil 9.1%) a few years ago and can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a bug in my house other than the occasional flying insect that get in through open doors. I spray twice a year and that’s it.

I don’t know if it’s the best for the money or not, but it has certainly worked well around my place. No spiders, ants, roaches, or wasp nests.

Fipronil is good stuff.

I used to spread Talstar granules a couple times a year, and it was phenomenal, but I’m not sure the granular is still in production.

Fipronil is exceedingly stable, it lasts a very long time, which is why it is an excellent termiticide.

Spiders and their waste product create piles and piles of debris on the windows in our garage. It's unbelievable. Never had this issue in the house I grew up in. I don't think I could ever kill them all.

I use Bifen. Spray the yard, deck, window sills, doorways etc about twice a month in the summer. Mainly started using it for mosquito control, but it also takes care of spiders and termites. There is a storm drain that runs under my driveway and runoff exits into a little creek/ditch along the side of my property, so mosquitos were a problem. We used to use a pest control company, our neighborhood got a group rate if we had something like 10-15 houses sign up, but I found out its much cheaper to just do it yourself after paying for that for one summer.

Consider your exterior lighting. Even the lighting escaping from windows and doors. This attracts insects, the spiders set up to catch said insects. A step in the right direction would be to limit exterior lighting and install lights away from your house. These items along with regular web removal and pesticide applications should help.

Remember, insect control is not a “hit it and forget it” idea. Routine maintenance will improve your success.

People seem to underestimate the huge numbers of insects that artificial light attracts (I hate to even say attracts, because they aren't attracted to the light source, they are completely disoriented and have no idea where they are going or how to go elsewhere) to their homes/outside areas.

I have a friend who was complaining about not being able to go out on his porch or deck. I was over there one night a few weeks ago and they had pretty much every exterior light on, and path lights in the backyard. I just started flipping switches and turning lights off. A bit later we went out on the deck and there were no bugs, and minimal came to the deck area while we were out with the light on. He seemed legit amazed. I said, just turn the lights off when you aren't using them, everything outside and everyone inside will be better off for it.

Use Cyper WSP. It's the generic version of Demon WP. It's a water soluable powder, that leaves a white residue after spraying. Shake well before spraying because the powder will settle to the bottom of sprayer if it sets up a while between uses. Buy the 1 lb pail. It's enough to make 49 gallons of spray. Mix 1 packet per gallon of water.

It is economical, affordable, safe indoors and outdoors, and deadly to spiders and other bugs. It's 40% cypermethrin. This product will solve your problem. Re-apply every 3 months.
