Wife and I are interested in eventually putting in an in ground pool in the BTR area. We still have young kids, so we are a few years off, but I’m curious to gauge the price people are paying in the area. I know it can vary based on what you’d get, but we’d be looking at something pretty basic. I’d like a built in hot tub as well.

Any feedback would be appreciated…. I’d be open to either a fiberglass or gunite pool.

Thanks!!!

This isn’t your area but it may be a good estimate for a leisure pool fiberglass pool. The site lists their price and what it includes. I wish all did that.

Leisure Pool Pricing

Anyone have experience with Leisure Pools or a more cost effective pool build?

If I do a pool at a future property it will either be a natural pool or a above ground with a deck. People mostly just hang out standing up in the pool anyway... It is nice to have but to recreate my pool today would cost well over $100k before you put in all the surrounding concrete and decking.

I agree. Get a nice above ground pool that is sunken into the ground a couple feet, have a nice deck built around it, then rip it all out 15 years later when you're sick and tired of that shite.

So many variables.

I just got a quote for gunite. 15x30 pool was $68k. Hot tub add another $16k. Not including decking. Like above budget for at least $100k. If you want turf and fancy decking better budget $120k.

W went with a fiberglass pool a few years ago. Installation cost was a little cheaper than gunite but the maintenance and 10 year cost cost is much cheaper.

We just put in a 12x32 Gunite with saltwater system and heater. Paid $53 total. Would’ve been closer to 50 but our yard needed some extra drainage even before the pool. We received several quotes from other companies around $67 for the same thing.

Hot tub was going to add $12-15k. We aren’t huge hot tub people so we just opted for the heater to be able to use the pool an extra few months. Ran it about 7 times last month and gas bill was $90. Not too bad.

We got lucky and built last summer with a guy just getting into the business but was a concrete salesman and he snagged the gunite guy exclusively who was previously doing gunite for other companies. Prices were fair and he could start sooner than anyone else. Our pool is 24 x 17 with a hot tub and basically decked most of the surrounding area as our yard is small. Cost us $61K. If we did it now, it would probably be closer to 75-80. We’re in Lafayette so not sure how comparable prices would be in BR. Maintenance has been pretty straightforward and not too costly. Startup chemicals are expensive but once you’re water is settled, it’s not bad if you stay on top of it.

West coast Florida. Production "luxury" home from December. Most have added on about $5-10k for the same thing today. Concrete paver pool deck that isn't big either.

FWIW, our agent looked at comps in our neighborhood and priced our house 200k over those because of our pool.

we got it.

throwing that out there because conventional wisdom in the past has always been that a pool is a giant money pit but covid changed everything and now people are willing to pay a premium for a pool.

in other words, that 100k might actually be a decent home upgrade that pays for itself if you ever sell.

of course in 5 years everything could completely change again.

Best thing that happened to me before building a pool was finding troublefreepool. You have gotten great advice here as usual, but I would head over there as well. Not just building but water maintenance as well.

yep a bunch of smart, retired, grumpy old men over there who are SPOT ON with their advice.

i asked a question about a UV system connected to my current pool and just sat back and watched the shite fly. you had the "useless, rip it out" followed by a scientific treatise from a different old grumpy man as to why it DOES work.

its like being a kid again. i can't tell you the last time i was in a pool with a diving board.
