The ones to choose from online are overwhelming. Not really interested in the google voice compatible or whatever. Just want one I can control with my phone. Trying to stay under $200

We have 2 Sensi. Love them. We use the battery option as wiring for previous thermostats didn’t have a C-wire. Batteries last almost a year without having to change them. Highly recommend.

Entergy customer?
Try this link for a super cheap Sensi smart thermostat.

I’ve got two units and a nest on each one of them. Zero complaints. Can’t actually think of anything I would want a thermostat to do that the nest doesn’t.

Depends on what you want it to do. I wouldn’t get one that learns your habits (like the Nest). Instead, you can get a programmable thermostat that is Wi-Fi enabled…like the ones made by Honeywell. Be sure to check with your power company as well as your gas company. They will typically give you enough rebates to where you can buy and get installation for damn near free.

+1 on Sensi.

If your wife is anything like mine she will be constantly screwing with the cooling/heating schedule on the app. Mine changes it almost weekly. I've given up trying to understand why

I have the Ecobee. No complaints other than it loses wifi connection sometimes but very easy to reconnect.

Nest is like the target of thermostats.

Doesn’t quite work as well as others, slightly overpriced compared to the competition but universally loved by women for reasons I don’t quite understand but they as a brand clearly do.

Honeywell.

I've moved 4 times in the past 6 years and had Honeywell nest ecobee and now Honeywell again.

Honeywell in a landslide.

Entergy Ecobee discount

This is probably the link he is referring too. They do have a limit on the number you can buy per year. They also offer other brands at a discount.

+2 on the Sensi. Easy to swap out, easy to program and easy to control from our phones.

ETA: we have a rule that we don’t talk to our appliances and this one doesn’t listen anyway.

With the Entergy link/thermostat just make sure to opt out of the program where Entergy can control your temp settings.

Another vote for Sensi. I replaced my upstairs thermostat with one since my kids have moved out. No longer have to climb the stairs to adjust.

Another vote for Sensi. I replaced both of mine. I locked my settings so the wife can't just adjust on a whim.

Have an ecobee that works like a charm. Great direct interface. Great app and works flawlessly with Alexa. Got it a few years ago when Entergy promoted a discount.

I've had my nest for about 5 years and love it. Comparing to the other mentioned smart thermostats I would say I'm paying a premium for something that looks fun. I don't mind. It has picked up on my air habits, knows when I leave the house so that it's not unnecessarily running the air. I can manage my schedule from my phone or computer just like the other apps. It has a very easy install guide that holds your hand through the install process, I'm assuming just like the others.

Pick what you like the most. I think the square panel style is the most user friendly option. There is something fun about turning the dial of the Nest thermostat, but that's the only major difference.
