re: Attic insulation differences

Posted by LSUPat on 7/13/25 at 7:44 pm to
My concerns with cellulose are mold, absorbs water and has an increased weight vs fiberglass. I will be using blown in fiberglass this fall along with air sealing all openings
If you get water from a gravity feed system (water tower) then drip your faucets. Otherwise open the cabinet doors to keep the pipe heated. Cover any water pipes that are on the attic or outside.
I did. It is very simple. Mine was a couple of wires went to the board and 2 mounting screws. I ordered from SupplyHouse.com and it was in the next day.
Sounds like the flame sensor. That is what mine did a month ago.

Does your unit have a drum clean cycle? Typically this cycle needs to be run monthly. There are a couple of different manufacturers of drum cleaning agents.

Dallaswho has the right answer. The PEX in the attic is an interesting conundrum. I have a similar issue and I am thinking about a using the same pipe insulation as I did for the copper lines. I am getting a welder's blanket to cover the outdoor water softener. Don't forget to blow down your irrigation system and cover the backflow preventer.

Another vote for Sensi. I replaced both of mine. I locked my settings so the wife can't just adjust on a whim.
I agree with the knuckle bones since they can't be swallowed

Insulation installation

I have 2x6 attic joist in the attic. The insulation needs to be replaced and clearly more added. 5.5 inches is not near enough. I have 2 HVAC systems with a walkway between. How should I dam off the HVAC? Plywood is my thought. Should I raise the walkway between with 2x12s or just leave it be since is a smaller area? I will also be air sealing, installing baffles, and a radiant barrier.

Best thing I have found is to dissolve aspirin in hot water to fill the reservoir when you first get the tree. Then water with Miracle Gro acid loving plant fertilizer. Keep the heat in the house to a minimum. I usually get mine after Thanksgiving and keep it up thru Epiphany (12th day of Christmas).

I bought mine on Amazon. The retailer was Amrad.

re: Tank or Tankless Hot Water Heater

I went tankless. Mine was in the attic and I did not like having 50 gallons of water above my head.
Do you have an overflow drain? It is a hole at the top of the sink. If so pour baking soda in the hole followed by vinegar. Rinse with hot water. The hole is your air vent to allow your sink to drain. Hot water may clear it alone.
This who I use for HVAC parts. You will get it next day. Check the amps to order the correct one. 4 ton is typically the 16 amp one.

You need a battery backup. The electricity needed is minimal to power the board.

I have a KitchenAid and have the same problem.
Engineering basis of design is 120 gallons per day per person. Assuming 4 people in the home you are around 500 gallons per day. You either have a big leak somewhere or you are significantly overwatering your lawn.
I use supplyhouse.com. I bought start and run capacitors for 1 unit as well a spare for the other unit. Prices were better than Amazon. I bought the Amrad capacitors. That Chinese crap breaks too soon.

I need to clean the evap coils. I don't want to get in the attic, but these HVAC guys in Houston area don't do a good job.
$6K for my child after insurance so not out of line.
