Does anyone have one of these in their attic?

I got a quote for blown in and this would be $150.

they are great. Can buy them though for $30-40 anywhere. Not sure how the quality compares to something a insulator could provide.
Install is usually easy but that depends on how standard the opening was made. You may have to do some light carpentry to make it work out.

I have one that I put in myself, very easy I think it was $45 on Amazon. If they're already doing work up there that's not an egregious amount if you just want them to knock it out as part of the project.

Just did this last week. $30 at HD and already had a heavy duty staple gun to put it in place.

Got one off of Amazon, noticeable difference when you open attic door

I need to get one of those.

Added one with more blown insulation and it helps. Noted differences with a temp sensor gun.

honest question, wouldn't some airflow with conditioned air be preferable to a fully sealed attic

I have been needing to get one of those. I have a feeling I am putting a hell of a lot of heated air in the attic during the winter. $150 sounds a little high…but I’d probably let them do it rather than doing nothing!

Got mine off Amazon for $20-$30 i think, it’s been awhile.
Installed in minutes with just a stapler

I put one in last year. It was a very noticeable difference when walking under the attic door...which just so happens to be right above my thermostat.
$30 something bucks on Amazon but I installed it myself.

Few people have a fully sealed attic….most have soffit and ridge vents.

You absolutely want airflow to help remove heat or cold air from your attic.
You absolutely don't want that airflow coming from inside of your air conditioned or heated house. This is stopping any air flow through leaks in your attic door, and they are cheap to buy and easy to install yourself.

I try to keep my wife out of the attic. She’s always wanting to store shite up there, and I’m not a fan of keeping things in the attic.

I have one made out of a $10 sheet of foam insulation board glued together and foil duct tape along the seams. Works great. Extremely sturdy. Easy to move going up, easy to install doing down.

Mine made a huge difference. Use insulated tape around the edges as well.

Anybody check the temperature difference pointing at the attic pull down door before and after installation.?

I made my own out of 2” Owen’s Corning rigid insulation foam board.

I can't remember the exact number easily 10 degrees and, if I remember correctly, 15 degrees at times.
I tried to get it based on the same times of day...same weather...etc. Pre and post install.
