I have extra bush bean seeds
Do I need to do anything special to save them for the fall?

just put them out on a paper towel in the sun and let them get good and dry. Store in a jar with one of those moisture wicking packet things

I’m on year two of the same crop of bean seeds

The best method though is to let them dry on the vine

We had some decent sized hail yesterday afternoon. I was most worried about my very soft persimmon shoots from my recent grafts. Appears to be no damage to them or any of my vegetable plants. I think the metal roof of our patio cover made it sound worse than it was.

Cleaned up potatoes and onions this afternoon watching baseball and bbqing for tomorrow’s events. Weather this year had lots of onions blooming. My wife will chop those up and freeze.

Very impressive
I have not attempted onions or potatoes yet I’m a little intimidated by the drying/curing

This week's rain washed away the wood chip mulch I put on all of my tomatoes and peppers. 5.5 inches of rain in 4 hours will do that. I was worried about my beans/peas because I had just cultivated them. Looks like I may be able to salvage them.

Wrecked my driveway too, took me two afternoons on the tractor to fix that.

We needed the ran badly but DAMN.

Get you a cheap rack and a box fan. Onions and potatoes are 2 of the easiest things to grow.

I still have a few more onions that aren’t laid over and a half row of potatoes to dig.

Nice. Some critter is actually eating my jalapeño fruits. Probably whatever was eating the tops off all the pepper plants earlier this year. Never seen that before. And those are hot.

Planted a second round of green beans and squash this evening along with black eyed peas and okra. Have one more row open right now.

Wasn't expecting or needing 7 inches of rain the last few days. Potatoes may be a loss this year. Starting to see end rot on the tomatoes. Hopefully, it will work itself out as the soil dries...it did after the previous heavy rain.

We're picking squash and peppers by the boatload. Cucumbers are starting to come in. Beans are not fans of all the rain, but they should bounce back.

I need to side dress the corn and tomatoes, but that isn't happening until the end of the week at the earliest.

Some a-hole pulled all of the peppers off of my Christmas lights plant. Waited til they were just about turned color. Made a pile of them next to the pot- all half eaten. About 10 of them.

Staring to eat my ripe tomatoes too.

Rat traps?

Nothing in the have a hart so far, but the bait has been messed with.

We usually are watching soil moisture in May. I will turn off the irrigation as we get closer to May if it rains a lot. If it dumps, we go ahead and start digging up if we see them starting to wilt from rain. Thats usually a sign the seed potato is starting to rot. We spread them out and run a fan for a few days to dry them up. Dust off the excess dirt and store in a cool dry place. We check them every couple of weeks just in case you get one that starts to turn. It’s a fun cheap crop that doesn’t take much.

Pick them at the breaker stage - when they are 10-30% colored. No need to ripen on the vine. It has done all it will do and they will finishing ripening indoors.

I was up at my folks place in Arkansas and missed most of the deluge but everything looks like it made out great

Lemon squash is fruiting and all the male flowers are open now

this is the Italian zucchini, fruiting and climbing the trellis. Vigorous plant

Thai basil, cucumbers, zinnias

Sunflowers starting to bust

Peppers cranking. I’m going to pickle the shishitos and freeze dry the jalepenos and bells

Just got back from a week out of the country and the garden is finally starting to produce, though the deer wrecked some of my peppers for the second year in a row. I'm going to have to build a fence prior to next year, or figure something out. This is the second year they ate half of my early pepper crop - both times when I was out of the country .

Starting to steadily pick jalapenos, gypsy peppers, squash and cucumbers, and have a few tomatoes ripening.

Bunny still hanging around. It is darling. I have not seen any evidence of a family. It is still small. It will let me walk up to it, but runs if I talk sweetly to it.

Picking lots of blueberries, strawberries, pole beans and cucumbers. Tomatoes are beginning to ripen, but slowly.

pickled shishito's you say?
Haven't had that before but i'm game.

Just made my first batch of many pickled cucumbers last night.
Going to be pickling banana peppers and i guess now shishito's as well. Corn looks great and i've been spraying it every other week hoping i don't get those damn worms that ive had the last 2 years.

Everythign in my garden is doing well except the squash and zucchini. Keep getting a few with rotted ends.
