Are you the screamer?

Currently at the gym at an abnormal time for me and a dude here is screaming the last two or three reps.

Go hard or go home, I guess. It super fricking obnoxious though.

There’s one dude at mine that yells pretty loud. He’s pretty damn skrong though.

This guy is the opposite. He’s not slinging heavy weight by any means and he’s being downright dangerous on bench. Sitting way too far down on the bench and having to reach way back to rerack the weight. Essentially throwing it back. If he misses, it’ll kill him.

I don’t like gyms to regulate grunting, screaming, or other meathead-type stuff, but all gyms should be cognizant of safety issues IMO.

There's a guy at my gym that shows up double fisting coffee and pre workout. Then he starts pacing around and making grunting noises before he even touches a weight. It just gets worse when he actually lifts.

I've yelled on one rep maxes before. Was totally involuntary and I was a little embarrassed .

Dude sounds like a tool. Some people just have inflated sense of how strong they are

There’s no reason to be yelling if you’re not lifting seriously heavy (and even then, probably shouldn’t be doing that).

I’m a grunter on similar lifts. Last rep of an AMRAP set might get a loud breathy grunt from me.

And like you I’m embarrassed about it.

This guy screamed about 75 times (not exaggerating) in the 45 minutes I was there.

My heart started beating heavy and got sweaty hands just reading this.

When I’m at the pool and I’m around lap 10, you would probably here me yell “frick this shite”

Yeah, a few like the person you’re describing. But, I work out at LA Fitness, so I don’t have the luxury to tell another member how to work out. If that’s what they do, then so be it. Wouldn’t want someone else telling me what’s what either. I just try to ignore it or move away from them. It’s good for a laugh tho.

He took Arnold's description of the pump really seriously.

I never made extraneous noise beyond effort grunts in a public gym. Now that I have a garage gym, I do what I want because no one really hears it.

Same. I'm not lifting crazy numbers but it's kinda fun to grunt and yell like a lunatic from time to time.

Sounds like he is going into cardiac arrest soon, so you won't be bothered much longer.

For that brief 2 seconds of silence between songs in my headphones, I become hyper aware of how loud I'm breathing and it makes me very self-conscious. So I end up trying to stay super quiet, suffer in silence etc.

I do tend to fart at the bottom of my squat, but only on days I forget to wear my squat plug.

Screaming is pointless. You’re letting air out and losing your brace.

I ring the lunk alarm when I hear the screaming or grunting or heavy breathing.
