There’s no reason to be yelling if you’re not lifting seriously heavy (and even then, probably shouldn’t be doing that).
You get a hall pass from me if you grunt on a really heavy lift (like a max or at least within 10% of it) or if you are giving birth, otherwise, you sound like a tool if you are a grunter/screamer.

My office campus recently built a gym that grants access to everyone. Huge population of foreigners work here and obviously that results in quite a few of them working out at the gym.
I've seen and heard some really weird and obnoxious shite over the last few months but I realize a lot of these people have probably never stepped foot in a gym before. Half wear jeans and button down oxfords while working out and don't shower before returning to work.. Sometimes all the treadmills will be taken by people walking and playing on their fricking phones... Today's douche was a screamer who was just military pressing 40lb DBs and trying to make sustained eye contact with everyone in the gym AND didn't shower before heading back up to the office. Delta bravo for sure
Again, like I said, most are foreigners so I laugh it off

I don't yell, but towards the end of a heavy lift sometimes I'll make noise. It's involuntary, but it really done help the lift!
Disagree? Fight me.

You REALLY should not scream. One, it can be obnoxious. Not everyone in the gym is a lifter, so I try to be reasonably respectable. Now, if I’m doing heavy deads and the weights make noise on the descent, they can get over it. Two, screaming lets air out of your belly. Retaining air in your belly throughout the lift stabilizes your brace, thus stabilizing your spine and making the lift safer. Letting that air out make it more likely that you will put undue stress on your spine. Over time, you’ll have issues.
ETA: If you are lifting for volume, there is a way to take in more breaths between reps so you don’t pass out.
ETA 2: You don’t want to fight me. I’ll show you thunder and lightning.
