Are your legs really exhausted from a 95 lb barbell? Most people aren't going to get through muscle ups so it's 45 front squats and 30 thrusters at 95. Any person with decent strength can handle that weight pretty easy.
That’s a lot of volume what are you talking about
That’s essentially 75 front squats

You mean like a bunch of meat heads at globogym thinking they can pull 400?
Your issue happens everywhere.
400lbs isn’t heavy for one
And you don’t see people doing that for time and if they are they are idiots globo gym or CrossFit
I was watching the Training think tank video on YouTube
Noah Olsen damn near killed himself doing that complex
His Olympic lifting form has always been suspect but he almost fell over during the jerk with the bar over his head
Travis Mayer looked much better tho

I don't think it's the most egregious thing CrossFit HQ has programmed, but just an example of something that I think should be reserved for games athletes. To me, pre-exhausting yourself and going for maximal lifts where core stability is vital just screams "terrible idea" for average crossfitters, who go to a class 4 times a week and don't do much else.
I am fortunate to go to a gym where I feel like the coaches are great and look out for their members, but with so little oversight from CFHQ there have historically been a lot of shitty CF gyms with shitty coaches that push people that don't need to be pushed. Covid might have thinned the CF herd but I'm sure there are some shite ones still out there.

Agree big time
The 21.4 add on should be for actual competitive CrossFit athletes

I did it this morning. I finished the muscle ups and hit 195 on the complex.
That's was entirely a grip workout. My second set of thrusters were a little tough, but it was all grip I thought. I started really slow on the muscle ups because of it. I ditched my grips about half way through and that helped a ton. If I did it again I think I could finish based on what I know about it now.
I didn't find the complex dangerous at all. My max jerk is only 215 and I hit the complex with relative ease.

Yea for me and you maybe it isn’t bc I do complex lifts a ton
The average CrossFit person who just goes to class is a different case

I guess you're right and we're just thinking fundamently different about it. What CrossFit messes up is 40 225 lb deadlifts is dangerous for pretty much every one where as this complex I thought to be fine.
I think the wall walks under extreme fatigue was probably more dangerous for the average person than the complex. I'd rather maybe tweak my back then fall straight down on my neck or shoulder.

I seriously think Castro is high when he comes up with this shite
Just bc he was a Seal and a BUDS instructor doesn’t make his workouts good

I will agree with you here, I just didn't even think about it. Even the scaled version got frickin brutal for me, and I wasn't sure I was going to make each rep happen towards the end. I could've easily jacked up my shoulders, or have fallen flat on my face. It took all of my concentration to make a rep happen.

My HR got up to 177 last night in the middle of 21.3
Nearly barfed up the 44oz spearmint snowball I had 2 hours prior. In retrospect, eating that wasn’t a good idea.

Strangely enough, I’ve thrown up a spearmint flavor snow ball before. Would not recommend.
Same as 21.3. Hah

Hell at 177 even a banana would be coming up

21.3
I got 4 BMUs before my shoulder started flaring up, so I called it. I had plenty of time left, but didn't want to push things.
21.4
195
tried 205 but failed on the jerk and called it

LMAOO the term coach is very loose in CrossFit
You don’t need any real certifications other than a weekend class and $1000

That second part is awful programming even if you have great technique on those Olympic and power lifts
7 mins to find a max weight on a four lift complex is retarted
Well if you say so then. I'm sure you know more than the team of people who designed this workout.

so like every other gym in the entire country? I'll take the average CF coach over the average high school hero at snap. The awesome thing is you have the ability to judge the gym you join by the quality of coaches.
Big difference between a CPT and a person who just took a lever one cert
That’s on the individual to ensure they get training from a person with professional education

What team
Castro does it all from Open workouts and the games

I think it's time for Dave to let someone else program this stuff. He has some questionable things programmed in the past, like the bike riding nonsense in the games. The murph in the heat LINK and few other weird things.
