The 2021 CF Open is upon us: What lunacy will Castro drop in our laps?

Since some people are still locked down, the Open will only be 3 weeks instead of the normal 5.

Equipment will be limited to:

Pull-up bar
Barbell & bumper plates
DBs
Plyo Box
Jump Rope
Wall Space

So, no rowing, no running and no rings, so expect long sessions of shite. Bar MUs may be out, too, since people may not have the headroom to do these at home.

Let’s go! 100 Strict HSPUs for time! 7 min cap!

I can do more than 30 unbroken pretty easy.

The other day I did every two minutes for 10 minutes (2 min sets) of 60 double unders and max HSPU in remaining time. I kipped them but I did over 100. 103 I think.

Eta: just did 43 strict in 1 minute just to see. A set of 30 and a set of 13. I had a solid 35 more in the tank pretty easy. The last 20 or so would be hard

I'm tapped out around 25 these days after getting over 30 UB a while back.

Those last 50 would suck arse, even if I was smart and broke them up into sets of 10 out of the gate.

..and yes, I expect a 17.1 repeat, or even something like Diane with 21-15-9 Bar facing burpees tossed in to make it a triplet.

I’m guessing 17.1 repeat, or just burpees for time so everyone in the world equipment or not is doing the same awful workout

Everyone is expecting a 17.1 redo so don’t expect it.

I think we will see a lot of A & B parts since it was shortened to 3 weeks.

Workouts like 15.1, 18.2 or even 19.2 (complete this in 8 min, if so, add 4 min and do this, etc).

That is a good point. With less workouts, making 1/3 of the entire open score dependent on 1 movement seems to go against what CrossFit is all about.

I’ve worked up to sets of 40-50 DUs. I just want to consistently hit 20 tomorrow night and I’ll be happy.

Wall walks until the set of 15 should be easy.

Our 2 best guys just did it and neither finished under 15. One was a regional athlete a few years ago.

Looks like those wall walks get rough real quick.

21.1 threw me for a loop. We don’t do much wall walks at my gym. Wish is was more like a real WOD , not a Covid style WOD, it’s my first year competing in the open. Kinda disappointed with this selection but will try to crush it anyway , maybe I’ll make it to the games , we’ll see lol

We do then on occasion but it’s been several months.

This is a DU workout for me. The wall walks will be ok.

I can string together a few DUs , maybe sets of 20 but damn 500+ , we’ll see it guess. I’m going balls to wall , that’s a tough time cap to beat
