59 year old male. I lost 45 pounds at end of 2025. No shots. Just exercise and counting macros. Ive been lifting 5 days a week since then. Making pretty good progress

Im considering getting on creatine but i dont want to gain water weight that makes me look fat again. Should I do it anyways?

Will that weight look different than the weight I lost? Sorry if it’s a dumb question.

It will help with energy and brain function as well as physical endurance.

Creatine doesn’t make you look fat it pulls water into muscles. Try and monohydrate with creapsure and start at 5g. You’ll do fine.

Prettymuch everyone should take creatine. You’re not going to look bloated, your muscles will feel more full and appear slightly more defined. Highly likely you will be the only one who notices.

I take 5g daily.

Muscles feel and look more "full" and shirts fit a little tighter but I 100% don't look or feel bloated.

Endurance is certainly better.

Yes take it. You wont bloat, and if you don't like creatine for any reason, stop taking it.

5g/day does nothing for me, so I take 3 scoops (15g/day) because its cheap and there is no reason not to... still not sure if it has much effect but I know its not hurting anything and I want to believe its helping my brain function.

Typical supplement stuff.. mostly hoopla but may work.

If you look fat it's because you're fat, not because you're taking creatine.

I take 10g daily. Ive read that the first 5g are for muscle recovery and the second 5mg is for longterm cognitive function. Can't tell a difference from 5-10 and have been taking it daily for about 4 years.

Unless you have kidney disfunction, the answer is always yes.

Any weight gain is due to intracellular hydration and will not make you look fat.

Do you mean g instead of mg? cause 10mg is almost nothing.

Yes, take creatine. Do it for the mental support. Any physical benefits are great as well.

Went for my annual last week, and my doctor told me that there are very few supplements he really recommends, but creatine is at the top of the list.

I started back in February at 5g/day, moved up to 10g/day in late March and have been at 20g/day since May. I can't recommend it enough.

Yes, but be careful. A lot of what is sold on Amazon is fake. I buy the tubs at Costco.

Yes. I echo what everyone else says. I’m in my late 40’s and got heavily back into the gym and cardio a couple years ago. Adding creatine to the mix has increased my ability to recover more quickly. I take 5g-10g per day. And I am more defined now than I have been since my 20’s.

Is creatine a miracle supplement? No. It will not fix the effects of bad habits, life and otherwise, that affect your health or recovery (lack of sleep, garbage eating, etc.). But is it an important piece of the puzzle? No doubt.

And congrats on the awesome progress.

Thank you. it's become my normal now. Honestly, it hasn't been incredibly hard to keep it off so far, but I know it will be as I continue to age. Turning 60 next year is going to hurt my feelings.......but i refuse to quit at this point. Just got my first grandson and I plan on being around for him.

Any particular brands that you guys think are better than others? Ive googled a lot but there is no consistency in the responses.

A lot of guys on here recommend brands with creapure. I use Naked brand which has its own purity protocol. I use their whey isolate, glutamine, collagen, and iron, too, and have it shipped on schedule for a discount.

I am an older father and that is part of my reasoning on laying off alcohol and getting back in the gym and on a bike. It’s not the worst midlife crisis.
