Trying to decide between Oaktree and FOTH right now.

Probably going to run Oaktree because I like that it’s not weekly structured it’s just 21 workouts and I feel less angry if I miss one.

The owner of the business posts here and is as far as I know a very good dude.

Delete your email and just buy the programs you’re looking for in support of a small business that helped alot of people.

Almost done with Grasshopper, and looking for a full body, 4 day plan that I will be doing while eating at maintenance/slight deficit.
Narrowed it down to Oak Tree, Periodic table of thickness, silverback and strongville. Can anyone explain the differences in these plans and if they are too intense to run in a deficit?

I’ve run grasshopper a few times. The only one of those others you listed I have run is Oaktree, I love that plan and I have run it 3x a week in a deficit without a problem multiple times.

I’m not trying to be a body builder or anything, so I just listen to my body. If I’m working out in a deficit and am overly sore or failing reps I’ll just take an extra day rest or lower my max weight a little.

Thanks for response, I was leaning towards oak tree because it looked like a more advanced grasshopper

We don't do that here.

I've only run Periodic Table from 4 you listed. It was a beast of a program you are benching / squatting / rows days 1&3 and deadlift / overhead press / pull ups days 2&4 both days then have a superset of something after compounds then his "cardio"

i think I was 1hr15 mins without doing the "cardio" portion and around 1hr30 on days I did.

good program liked it but bit on longer side for me. Not sure I would want to be in too much of a deficit. Will run again during slower time of year

anyone run both summer stacked and pump city and if so, what are your opinions. From the looks of it, pump city looks to be more hypertrophy based with a lot more bodybuilding accessories.

I ran summer stacked 2x and got to day 9 or so after the Widowmaker squats only to run out of steam the week after due to those.

I’ve run pump city a bunch of times and am just starting Summer Stacked. This seems like lower volume and higher %s; maybe 15 mins shorter per day and a lot of emphasis on front squats. I am just a couple days in and it feels like it’s a lot more taxing on my CNS than most of pump city; I could run that program and still feel fine to go ride the elliptical or shoot basketball or go for a bike ride a bit after but I’m pretty tired out after this.

Also there is way less biceps work on pull day than pump city.

If you aren’t totally set on PPL, also consider 70s big. It has some tough strength training but a lot of accessory stuff too

I loved 70's big, but sometimes those workouts were almost at 2 hrs and in Where I am at, my garage is at least 88 degrees at 4am - So that would be a no bueno.

I was originally looking at hypertrophy and then hypertrophy remastered and that is when Pump City struck my eye. Pump City looked like hypertrophy remastered but in a PPL format.

I run Pump City a lot. It has a lot of AMRAP days for bench and squats, a gnarly Bulgarian split squat/reverse lunge superset, and some shoulders like boulders days.

Currently two weeks into Filling Out the Hoodie and it's up there with one of my favorites with Pool Season, Squatober, Bracy Yourself, it's Coming and Stacked and Jacked.

After good run with Stronger then a Garlic Milkshake, Silverback, then Sports Strength with fortnightly Olly Coaching sessions, the upper focus is a welcome change.

Like it so much, I'm keen to follow with Filling Out the Hoodie part 2.

Besides two Squatobers, I've mainly leaned towards three days and four day PPSA plans.

Anyone vouch for FOTH2 or how 5 day PPSA programs work for CNS or muscle recovery compared to other splits?

as mentioned the Owner post here and specifically asked us not to trade. He is no longer a College S&C coach and this, along with being a rep for sorinex, is how he makes his living. Its a very small business run by 1 person. It is not fair to take food off his table considering how much he gives away for free on his Instagram.

Ask yourself, how would you feel if you owned a small business and someone was stealing from you? Looks like you are an MD, how would you feel if you created a medicine that helped people and someone stole a bunch and gave it away for free?

So we ask respectfully that you dont trade, ask for trades or anything of the sort if you are going to post here and be a part of the community.

I would never ever run strongville oe periodic table in a deficit, way too intense especially those carries in strongville. I tried it a couple times...way too hard imo.

of the ones you listed, I would do silverback. I do feel pool season, filling out the hoodie 1 and arm farm are better choices though just do to intensity.

imo FOTH2 does a good job of rotating intensity

its Bench, DL, Squat, Snatch grip DL, Bench setup. It sets up pretty much like a Push, Pull, Legs, Pull, Push

Friday or day 5 is the heaviest day % wise on main lifts

you dont reach 80% or more on DL until week 3 and dont reach 80% on squats until week 4.

so it does a good job of easing you in and then managing the fatigue.

yea and just remember with both summer stacked and pump city, you can ramp up or back off as needed because its not a set number of days per week. I have not run summer stacked but pump city is a ramp in volume more so than intensity.

Pump city has AMRAP bench/squats every other push/leg too so if you’re not recovering you just may not hit a PR that day.

As an aside, I’m working out with my wife now in a fairly small home gym, and so I usually find myself doing some of the accessory superset/cardio first while she does the barbell lift and then we switch. It’s easier than having to unrack between every set, but sometimes it means I bench or squat at the end of the workout. I like how warmed up I am, but keeping intensity can be a challenge if you’re benching 45-60 min into a push day

Highly recommend Oak Tree for this reason. Whether you hit 2 or hit 5 lifts in a week you'll still feel good on this program. Straight meat and potatoes every day
