Not literally at the line. I’m making the trip and we’ll see how I feel.

Not sure you’ll get another chance to run another marathon with the way Covid is spiking. I feel like everything is about to start canceling again.

Wouldn’t make another attempt until next fall. Racing is actually the most boring part for me. If I wanted to run slow, I’d do an ultra or something. I kid. :D

I planned to run today. Work kept me late. The cold and snow made me quit.

There's always tomorrow.

Anyone doing a Thanksgiving day race this year? Ours will be virtual and I was torn about participating, as I don't like virtual races. But I've done this race almost every year for about 40 years, and the t-shirt looked good, so I decided to sign up. Usually 10 or so of my extended family would participate together, but this year it's just me. You can do the race anytime between Thurs and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, on a course of your choosing. I plan on running Thanksgiving morning and overlapping a small part of the normal race course just for tradition sake and maybe see some other runners. I know my time is going to suck, so will likely just treat it as a training run.

Come down to BR for the Turkey Trot! As of now it's still on. I will be doing it along with my wife and 2 year old (in stroller). I'll be running it, they will be strolling. It falls in the middle of my Marathon block, so I guess I'll just treat it as my tempo run of the week. Not really ideal, but racing in person while I can.

We've been lucky that the Birmingham Track Club races have been able to get down. Now, they've had to move them out of Birmingham to get it done, but at least we are racing. I just can't do virtual races. I run so much faster when chasing people.

That awesome. Perhaps we could meet up before or after. Have you ran it before? Do you know if the 27 miler is one continuous loop?

I have not run the race before but I have run most sections of the trail before. The 27 miler starts in woodworth, la and finishes at valentine lake. Typically you meet at valentine lake and they shuttle you to the start of the race.

There is some unknown in regards to the routes with the race though as the trail has been hit by a couple of tornados and hurricanes since last December.

I’ve been increasing my mileage and feeling a lot stronger on my runs. Today I comfortably ran a sub-43 10k in the middle of a broken tempo run, so hopefully this endurance running will payoff later when I start adding some speed.

Ran good tonight on my less hilly route. 8:40/mile over 6.5 miles and 330’ of climb. Pushed hard on the last mile and put in a 7:50.

Mobility program helped immediately. Excited about it long term.

Hogbody,

Looks like you will be getting your wish.

I'm sort of walking bad luck apparently--> Since I'm here , turn that 44% chance of rain into 100% chance of showers ??

First run for this week, only 5 and change. It warmed up enough here to run in a t-shirt.

On my way back I had my first encounter with a big dog off-leash. It was dark & I didn't immediately see the dog so she (found out later) took me by surprise. The dog was eventually wrangled by a girl maybe 8 years old, and I could only hear mom yelling in the background. The dog jumped on me a couple of times after I slowed to a walk. The little girl could calm the dog down but in no way could restrain it.

I was lucky this do was initially excited and somewhat protective, but not aggressive.

Dude I had a similar incident last Saturday am on my LR. There is a trashy house up the road from me with pit bulls always barking, etc. They are always caged up but one of them must have gotten out or something, as he proceeded to run up on my arse. Pre dawn, so I was the only one around. I thought he was gonna rip my calf out, I felt him breathing on my leg, so I turned around stomped at him and I let out some kind of scream/bark/yell. To my surprise he darted back home. I thought I was done for.

Good luck to all you boys toeing the line up in Arky!
