Been trying to get back into it. Doing a little interval program. Knee doesn’t hurt anymore when I run, so I got that going for me which is nice.

Elevation is nonexistent where I live. I’ll run 6 miles and have total elevation change of 23 feet. Dead serious

Kind of disgusted with myself as I've redeveloped a taste for IPA's recently. This lack of a race planned is killing my motivation to train and to refrain from drinking. I don't drink too much, but average maybe 2-3 beers a night/afternoon. These post run beers are obviously no good for recovery and I've also put on about 5 lbs due to it. We've also recently run into child care issues, so I see more stroller miles in my future also. Ah well, could always be worse. My son actually yells "run!" when I'm just walking with him, so there's that. Ha!

Just hoping I can put something definitive on the calendar for Fall. I've back loaded most of my vacation till the end of the year, which will only help training, as well as my son starting preschool in August (if nothing changes).

Thought about a 5K time trial, but it'll have to happen soon if I do it with the weather inevitably getting more miserable by the day here shortly.

What kind of IPAs you been sipping on?

Current favorites:
Chandeleur Ole Buddy (GOAT)
Chandeleur Total Clarity (high ABV and a little sweet)
Parish Dr. Juice (easy drinking)
Sierra Nevada Hazy Little IPA (also easy drinking but with a lot of flavor)

For sure. Anything in this vein. Holy Roller, Jucifer, etc.

Also been on a sour kick, as my wife likes them. I like some of Chandeleur's stuff (Lil Tangerine, the Black Cherry is OK). Will have to try those 2 if I see them.

My wife loves sours and I do not. Between her love for their sours and my love for their IPAs, we keep Chandy busy.

Welcome!

I’m not big on the IPAs. My go to is Urban South’s Lime Cucumber Gose.

I squeaked in a 59:xx 10k this morning before work. I’m always feeling like crap in the morning, but it sure does make me feel like I accomplished something before work starts

Good job, dude! I've never ran and then regretted it after. 100% of the time you'll be glad you did (barring injury of course).

I'd pay money for that route around here. I can't get a 6 mile route around here under 300ft of change.

I feel your pain Aubie. One of these days I want to get down to a NOLA race just to see what it's like to run a flat course.

I hope all these hills payoff some day in a race. The 15K that I like running here in Bham is 1,400ft of elevation. The bulk of that is at mile 6 where I swear it looks to be a straight vertical climb for almost a mile. The good news is that once at the top, it's just a straight downhill as it was up. Makes the finish very fast.

I'm pretty lucky. I can go down by the river where it's totally flat aside from a few bridges. Or if I want to grab some hills, I can run anywhere else around or hit a few of the trails in driving distance.

You on the coast? My parents live in pass christian, and I occasionally run over there. Brutal headwinds.

Yep. Pretty much sustained 10 mph every time I run, generally from the west. Mornings seem to be a little calmer.

For instance:
Today at 6 PM: 14 mph from the SE
Tomorrow at 6 PM: 15 mph from the ESE
Saturday at 9 AM: 10 mph from the ESE
Next Monday at 6 PM: 8 mph from the SW
Next Tuesday at 6 PM: 7 mph from the NW

If you average that, you get 10.8.

Appreciate the welcome everyone. Very kind.

Like many of you I’ve been hammered by elevation gains due to where I live during this. Heading to downtown Greenville (SC) tomorrow though since they reopened all of our trails and stuff. Goal is 8-10 miles sub 9 minute since its minimal elevation gain. We’ll see!

7 at a very slow pace (10:00/mi). BPM was 151 and HR zone was 4.4. Battled a little left leg shin splints and general leg fatigue today. That slow enough for you, Patrick? Ha!

Don’t know why the run isn’t showing up on Strava but oh well.

I might be in for miss gulf coast also. 4 minutes off a bq, seems like a good course to go for it.
