Depends on quality some can get by with 6, some even 5

Agreed. I’ve been getting by on between 5 and 6 a night for at least 7 years.

Let me know how you like them.

I took them out for the first time for a 4.8 mile loop. They fit snugly. When laced all the way up, I don’t have any heel slip. The toe box is roomy—not as much as my Ghosts, but more than the Nike Legend Reacts that fill out my rotation. No hot spots.

The trail is mainly hard packed dirt with a few sections of gravel and rocks, with some wooden bridges mixed in. The bridges looked slick, but the Divide handled well. There was a lot of mud, and I never lost traction. It’s not a waterproof shoe, and I got some wet socks from running through a low spot on the trail. I didn’t notice any discomfort from the rock plate, as some reviewers had mentioned; I may have not run long enough to experience that though.

All in all, I think the Divide is as advertised after one short run. I’ll try to take it out again on Sunday for two loops, depending on weather and how the weekend goes.

I learned another lesson today. When running on trails, I need to wear bug spray. I also need to google what to do if hogs charge you, because I startled a pair and had an “oh shite” moment.
Got my pair of Brooks Divide 1s in the mail today. Can’t wait to take them out to the trails this weekend.
Sometimes I’m dumb.

Mistake 1: When I wasn’t able to go on my 13 miler this morning, I should have pushed it to tomorrow, not 2 pm today when the heat index was 96.

Mistake 2: Running said 13 miler after fueling with just a single waffle and 20 oz of water for the day

Mistake 3: Getting caught in conversation with another runner late into mile 1, who slowed his pace to chat while I increased mine substantially, until we split after about 2 miles.

I don’t think I’ve ever walked so much to try to get through a run. I did finish though, but it was at an 11:13 clip.
Ran 18.25 this morning. 86% humidity can shove it, haha. Pace was 11:10, including breaks. Met a couple of other running groups and chatted during the breaks. Felt really, really good. Getting my hydration and nutrition under control better has really improved how I feel during my long runs. Thought about pushing the last 0.4 miles to get an even 30k, but nah

Northshore Half posted this earlier today, which gives me hope that the October event will still happen.

Join the FRESHJUNKIE family and challenge yourself to run 100, 165, 230, or 460 virtual miles this summer from Flora-Bama border to the Texas state line. We’ll keep you motivated this summer with curated content to help you achieve your goals. Not to mention some sweet digital badges, great gear, and an awesome hard earned finisher medal.

You’ll have a four-month challenge window from Thursday, June 18 – Sunday, October 11 (Northshore Half Marathon race date) to set and reach your 100, 165, 230, or 460 mile goal!

Registration is $50 for any distance you choose to take on. This is a great way to kick off your training for our fall & winter events including:
Northshore Half Marathon - October 11, 2020
Battleship 12K - November 15, 2020
Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon - December 13, 2020
Louisiana Marathon - January 17, 2021

Why take the Challenge? Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama rank near the bottom of the nation's health rankings, three states that FRESHJUNKIE Racing produces event in. Let's change our that ranking by going across all three states this summer and getting the Gulf Coast healthier. Let's take the Gulf Coast from last to first, from 49 -> 1! Let's Go!

I bit off more than I was expecting. I gave it a start, but I’m not willing to put any more time into it, haha

Feel free to take what I started and build off of it or scrap it and start from scratch.

The major two limitations on my version are
1. It doesn’t take multiple plates into account (if you have 4 10 lb plates, it only treats it like you have 2)
2. There’s cheat cells and then there’s cheat tabs. This has a complete cheat tab. It’s very...inelegant

Sorry, man. I even searched around on some excel forums and on Reddit to try to get a different perspective on it.

Send me your spreadsheet, and if I have some time tomorrow, I’ll give it a shot. If someone beats me to it, I won’t be offended.

And if you got something you can link me to or how you want it to look, let me know.

I do run the trace. I either run it to Old Rail then towards the lake and around or out to Lonesome and back

Cool! I either run from Koop to around Fontainebleau or from Hoffman out to Abita. I love the neighborhoods out by Lonesome. I’m always tempted to leave the Trace to go run the neighborhoods instead, but I haven’t given in yet.

you running on the Trace? We may be crossing paths.

There’s a couple runners around here that stay on the street even though there’s quality sidewalks 5 feet to their left.

There aren’t sidewalks where I run currently, but there were years ago on my routes in Baton Rouge. I always took the street over the sidewalk. The sidewalk tore me up, and it was generally torn up itself from roots and never maintained.

More than me, bud!

16 miles at 11:20 pace this morning. That put me at 34 miles for the week. I’ve read it’s not good have your long run make up that much of your weekly mileage, but I’m having a hard time finding time during the week to run.
Northshore. Was 81 degrees with 91% humidity. Heat index of 89 for a run 2 minutes after I roll out of bed is killer

ETA: this morning’s 63F/100% 5 miler was much more enjoyable!
5+ mi this morning at 4:30am. Hot and humid even then. That run made up for yesterday’s 1.75 mi jaunt that had to end abruptly when both kids woke up from the shortest naps known to mankind...
Work from home day due to Cristobal, so I got in a leisurely 10k during the time I would have been commuting. My running really misses the 100% remote work schedule I had during corona.
Just came across this race yesterday. 130+ mile race from BR to NOLA in March 2021. Run solo or as part of a team. Looks pretty cool.

Jabra Elite have “hear through” sound which takes sounds picked up by the mic and sends them into the speakers. This basically amplifies the background noise so you can hear while listening to music

Yep, that’s a pretty cool feature, and it works as well as advertised. I’ve also taken to running with only one of my Jabras in. I don’t have any issues hearing the traffic around me or hearing the podcasts through the Jabras.
5 meh miles this morning. First run since Saturday. Kids’ sleep schedules are making my sleep and run schedules fall apart. Got about 4 hours in, and I’m running on fumes. Gonna take tomorrow off and hope to get in some runs Fri, Sat, and Sun.
15 miles in this AM. Got to test out my new Jabras my wife got me this week for our anniversary. I suppose now it’s time for some honey-do’s
Humidity 96% when I finished my run at 6am. Yuck. 5 easy miles in the books. Can’t wait til fall.
I carry my phone on every run. It’s how I track my mileage and splits and listen to my podcasts. Even if I didn’t use my phone for that, it puts my wife’s mind at ease that I have it in case she needs to reach me or vice versa.
Do you go with the caffeinated or the regular Maurten gels? Is the best place to buy them directly from their site?
