I've made significant progress over time
Y'all do you. My style of working out has worked for me quite well in my life. I'll stick with it. I enjoy that feeling of complete exhaustion.
Also I'm talking about the "for time" or "AMRAP" type workouts, not strength training

Get the fundamentals of lifting down before jumping into WODs. Have impeccable form. Do not start wods until you do.

This. I'm with Gyne. You want to be fundamentally sound in your oly lifts before trying to do them for time. Seen too many folks hurt their backs/shoulders/etc. trying to rush through deadlifts or OHS.
and scale
and check your ego
and in about a year or so, you can play with the Rx boys, sometimes.

Meh? 95% of CF injuries probably come from hardos who are cranking out bulk reps of bad DLs, cleans, squats with terrible form.
That's what fundamental classes are for. Expecting a coach to critique and fix your form in a large class is a gamble.

Not all CF gyms offer fundamentals classes. Mine doesn't. They focus in on those that are new and those they know need form work. Everyone else still gets a once over and a check-in during WODs but the newcomers get most of the attention.

You can still tax your CNS which is what we are talking about
From a rest, recovery and performance standpoint going balls to the wall every workout does not have the best long term results

If you like going to a gym with programing set up and sometimes getting a really good workout and sometimes going what the hell is the point of this and not getting a good workout. You will like crossfit.
It also depends on box. I went to one in DC that was not like this.

Sounds like a great way to make friends which I think is really important

I agree with this. The classes can be pretty big from what I’ve seen so it’s hard for them to watch everyone.

Well that’s disturbing
What do you contribute bring injured a lot to?

Hulk is a big dude who has been losing weight. He also is battling hypothyroidism.

On top of that, I've only had strains/pulls and some tendonitis. These things are pretty normal for active people. I've not had any major injuries.
I mostly attribute most of my minor injuries to the fact that I was mostly sedentary for most of my life, hunched over a desk. In particular my shoulders weren't used to being used so much. I've been correcting my posture firing those muscles; they're easy to strain in this kind of scenario.

My only injury has been to my calf and had zero to do with lifting. In my just over two years there, I have heard of exactly zero lifting injuries.

You’re going to be knee deep into pussy. They love us CrossFit guys. I’ve only gotten hurt once. I rolled my ankle fricking running in a WOD.

I know. I follow the threads, he always seems to nursing a injury. I’m not going at him. Bigger person who has never done Olympic lifts jumping in to CF w/o a fundamental class? Coaches can only do so much in a class setting.
