I’ve seen him lift and he looks proficient in lighter loads.

It’s the WODs with those lifts were everyone starts to breakdown deep into it. It happens to me, but my overall strength helps most of the time.

I still have nagging issues but I’m getting old so..

I've been going to a CF for nearly 2 years now, so it's not because i'm a newbie at this point. Of course I started out light on Oly lifts and have worked my way up (plenty would see my #s as light still, but heavy is relative). Honestly I've never been injured by an Oly lift, knock on wood. I tend to get hurt on the high volume bodyweight stuff.. probably because I'm heavy and there's just only so much scaling one can do for bodyweight.

My latest injury, a strain in a spinal erector, came from deadlifts actually. I've been doing deadlifts for probably 5 years and this is the first time they've bitten me. shite happens.

Don't worry, not taking this personally. Just explaining things.

I didn’t expect you to take it personal as you’re pretty honest w yourself, which is why I asked

It’s tough to come out of CF unscathed from injury if you’re working hard regardless

Any report OP? I love hearing stories of getting up and down stairs or on and off toilet after a person starts. Your first WOD always has goblet squats it seems

He was addressing me and how I'm often nursing a minor injury. He's right, I often have minor injuries to attend to.. tendonitis and strained muscles have been common for me.

What I said is the norm at most CF gyms

Any gym that cares about the longevity of their members and their membership will ensure they are proficient in the lifts before letting them participates in WOD. I mean, you owe to yourself. Of course everyone is anxious to get started. But there are some true spazzes who cannot lift correctly after doing it for a long time

Other boxes will just let you learn the hard way, get nicked in the process, then convince you that scaling the exercises are this great thing. They will lull you into this sense of accomplishment by constantly reiterating this to you, even if you're injured and should be resting. All the while they dont have to pay full attention to you while you're off to the side doing ring rows, box push ups, small box step up, whatver, but they will certainly continue to collect full dues from you, dont ya worry about that

Three points. Not all wods have lifts. When they do, I often see our coaches come up with another movement in place of that lift. Alternatively, they do the lift at an absurdly light weight.

so 65 year old sedentary women should do biz jumps, pull ups, and overhead squats.
