I lift and do HIIT classes in my garage. My set up is basic as frick because I am cheap. I got dumbbells, bands and do peloton strength classes

It’s easily in the 80s in there if not 90s.

It’s really my only option at the moment. So trying to spin it as a positive. Do I get any benefit from working out in the heat besides sweating my balls off?

IMO, heat acclimatization is a merit on its own. The ability to do physical work in the heat is a “better human” skill.

Sweating is great for you as well, it’s one of the only ways for certain environmental toxins to exit the body. I often wonder what globogym folks are missing.

Unfortunately no, or at least the benefit calorie wise is minimal

But don't worry, I’ll be suffering with you as well with working out outside all summer

I have more success in heat and the hotter I get the more success I have. Eat right and watch the fat fall off from the areas you want it to.

I’m in the same boat. It sucks. I definitely have to be careful with cramping when it’s hot and humid.

I don’t think there’s much of a benefit, but I do prefer the warm mornings over the freezing ones. Nothing worse than trying to get a set of bench in and having to squeeze a frozen bar of metal.

There's something to be said about heat acclimatization. In the fall when it cools off it's like Goku taking off his weighted clothes

calorie wise...its minimal.

but there is a whole crew here that will be sweating balls with you.

as mentioned though, heat accumulation is a benifit on its own.

I remember those summer workouts in a shitty old warehouse at a certain cenla high school. We upgraded to an a/c facility my sophomore year, but freshman year was TOUGH

I'm with you man. I work out in my garage as soon as I get home - usually around 4:30 or so.

It's hot as shite in there but I feel that it is easier to warm up, and being drenched in sweat at the end of a workout makes me feel like I accomplished something.

Same here. I have a small digital thermometer I keep in there and it's usually always in the mid 90s during the summer. Definitely easier to get warmed up and moving when it's hot like that

Way back in time when I was a young teen I got into boxing.

The gym I trained at had no a/c and those workouts were brutal and even more so in the summer months.

Everything was drenched in sweat by the end of the workout between sparring, heavy bag work, speed bag work, shadow boxing, rope skipping, various calisthenics and running.

I lift really early in a garage gym, so it's never too hot. But there's something about getting some work done, when it's just hot as shite and you're sweating your balls off. IMO, you just feel like you got something done. That sweat is a reward. You're getting all the bullshite out your body. Muscles are warm, I love a hot workout. I used to go to a gym that had every fan on with the ac in the 60s. Hated it. Just be aware that you will be sweating a lot more come July. Make sure you're taking in some electrolytes and some sodium. It'll suck for a bit, but you'll get to a point when you'll like it.

Come winter, f that cold workout.

Rings and a weighted vest would be a good investment for you. They’re cheap and give you a ton more options.

Same here. My Peloton is in my office, which is off of our screened deck. There is an A/C vent in there, but it doesn't do a ton to get it cold. Probably 10 degrees warmer than the house stays in the summer. I just have a cheap oscillating fan I use to move air. I did a 40 minute workout the other day when the daytime temps were up in the 80s, and it was probably high 70s in here that night. Way different than when we got the bike in December and it was 40 degrees some days. But I powered through and felt great when I was done. I thought I would be drained. Just keep up with hydration when working in the heat.

Similar, several years ago I was into running. Wife thought I was crazy, but an outdoor 5 mile run at noon in July just hits different. I loved it. Way better than running on a chilly Saturday morning.

A.M. garage workout guy here, even in the summer heat the lather is fierce but refreshing.

An oscillating fan can offer some temporary relief between sets and circuits and is not a huge investment.

Agreed. I love cutting my grass at midday in the summer. My dad will come over and ask, "why not wait til 6pm?" I'm like, "because I want to suffer!"

Yeah I usually like to be lazy on saturday mornings, and it will be at least 10 before I even think about going out back to cut the grass. Which turns into running the weedeater some, messing around in the garden, and doing other chores outside, and I don't come back in until 1 or 2. Looks like I jumped in a pool from all the sweating.
