I'll be suffering along with you fellas. First three weeks of April I killed it in my garage.
Then work come along and fricked up the last week of April and the first week of May.
In the garage as we speak taking advantage of some low 70's and nice breeze.

I know one thing, it's hot as a mother fricker right now.

mental toughness
someone has to put in the work. might as well be me.
...that being said i need to find a nice fan for the garage.

Bought one of these and it puts out a a lot of air.
walmart
If this one don't cut it then I saw some porta-cool fans for about $400 at Academy.

Can do a window unit if the garage windows are hidden from view. Trashy af, but if no one sees it, who cares?

I do the same in my garage. I do circuit / CrossFit style workouts in my garage and it’s brutally hot sometimes. Just a kettle bell, dumbbells, rower and a mat gets the sweat going pretty good. On brutal days I put a fan in there but I use it as a reward. So after 1st or 2nd round I’ll “reward” myself and turn on the fan for the rest of the workout. Seems like a treat and takes my mind off how bad the workout is kicking my arse.

Whew. Toasty this evening. Index is still about 93. Going to be an interesting summer for sure.

Picked one up today. Can confirm it puts out a lot of air.

Get a mini split for the garage

Yeah, great fan for the money.

Hell yes. Home gyms for the win. Get a shop fan and open a door and the roll up door if you have bith for a little air flow.
A reasonable squat rack and solid barbell are very attainable.

90 here with an index of 94. It's hot,but bearable. I am curious how much suck it's going to be when the humidity really kicks in.

Well it's not as hot in the shed as in direct sunlight. Better with a big fan. Totally bearable. Winter is much worse.

Hot as balls in my garage this afternoon but we got this going for us

Just going to assume this best study ever and not look for anything that may prove it wrong

Researchers have been looking at the effects of heat on athletic performance for decades, and their results have been consistently surprising. Studies have found that, in addition to an increased rate of perspiration, training in the heat can increase an athlete’s blood plasma volume (which leads to better cardiovascular fitness), reduce overall core temperature, reduce blood lactate, increase skeletal muscle force, and, counterintuitively, make a person train better in cold temperatures. In fact, heat acclimation may actually be more beneficial than altitude training in eliciting positive physiological adaptations, says Santiago Lorenzo, a professor of physiology at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and a former decathlete at the University of Oregon. “Heat acclimation provides more substantial environmental specific improvements in aerobic performance than altitude acclimation,” he says. And in contrast to the live low, train high philosophy, we more quickly adapt to heat stress than we do to hypoxia. In other words, heat training not only does a better job at increasing V02 max than altitude, but it also makes athletes better at withstanding a wider range of temperatures.
quote:
Athletes can adapt to heat in one of two ways. The first is through incremental improvements in tolerance over time—work out in the heat a little bit every day, and eventually your body will dissipate heat more effectively. The second way is through thermotolerance, which is a cellular adaptation to an extreme heat experience, like suffering such severe dehydration after a run that you need an IV. Essentially, if you shock your system, your body will be able to withstand greater temperature stresses later on. But successful heat adaptation is difficult—and clearly dangerous—to achieve outside of controlled settings. Lorenzo explains that performance gains are possible only when athletes elevate their core body temperature, and without careful monitoring, it’s possible to elevate your core temperature to lethal levels.

Great rec.
It's been record-breaking hot here in CenTex and today did snatch balance workout and Grace in Garage with no cooling. Will likely pull trigger on this and posts like this are why I keep coming back to this board.

Leg day is brutal today. Heat index is still 97 here. After 5 sets of Bulgarian splits and 1 set of lunges I feel like hurling after every set. I still have squats and leg curls to go.
I'm closing in on 50. Am I just being a puss or do you other guys my age feel it too?
