Anyone seen health improvements after cutting out morning coffee?

I wake up most mornings feeling queasy. I struggle with acid reflux (silent kind) and often have consistent thirst throughout the day. I don’t sleep as well as I would like, often staying up until 11:00-11:30ish pm and often waking in the night feeling parched and having reflux. Even during the school year when I have to consistently be up at 5:30am, I won’t fall asleep until after 11 and often wake up before my alarm goes off.
I’m considering cutting out my morning cup of joe. Two concerns are 1) morning coffee guarantees me taking a shite within 10 minutes of waking up and 2) all coffee drinkers know that coffee is life.
My experiment (might) be to drink hot water upon waking for the bowel movement and then drink a cup of black tea mid morning.
Ninja edit - I’ve been tested for diabetes multiple times and am no where close to being pre diabetic. Doc says I have really bad reflux issues and prescribed a PPI. Pantaprozole helps but I’d rather not be on a PPI long term if I can help it.

I got on Protonix and it ended my reflux
Coffee made it worse, but I love it and not giving it up.

Can't help you with most of your post but
Don't drink it when you first wake up. I wake up, get dressed, drive to work drinking hot water with creatine, get to my desk and go through all my emails, then go warm up breakfast, eat, then pour some coffee. I wake up at 5:30 and don't take my first sip of coffee until at least 8:00, sometimes I get distracted when going through my work emails and forget all about it if it's gonna be a busy day.
I've read that it's supposed to be beneficial to avoid stacking caffeine with your cortisol spike the first hour after waking up but that's not why I do it.
I feel that it keeps me from being dependent on external energy sources. Every few months I'll take a week off of coffee at a time with no issues. And I have become 100% a morning person. It annoys both by coworkers and my wife on weekends bc I try to get everything done before they're fully awake. Don't know if the coffee discipline is the cause but I suspect it might be

Caffeine decreases in efficacy with exposure, and is just a return to baseline for most people. They wouldn't need to return to baseline if they weren't frying their nervous system with coffee.
I stopped 90% of my caffeine intake to reserve it for the few days a year when I need it. You're less dependent on the caffeine than you think, but wildly dependent on the process. Dropping caffeine intake makes it much easier to stay hydrated, too, since it's a diuretic.
That said, a single cup (even if it's 20oz) shouldn't be having the effects that you describe. Especially the staying up late; stop with the screens before bed and practice good sleep hygiene. You sleep and shag the wife in bed, nothing else. No binging the latest HBO disaster, etc.

But how do you shite?
That's the only big hesitation here. I like to go running in the morning. I am terrified that I will be 3 miles from the house needing to hit the bathroom.

I’ll try this. Probably like a hot tea or something.
I should mention that the bowel movement is priority. I haven’t missed a morning dump since 2011. I know it was that year because I called in sick to work because I didn’t know what to do.

Coffee is one of those things that really affects some people in a very negative way and others hardly at all. And even others, coffee has a positive effect. If you feel like eliminating your morning coffee for a couple of weeks to see how you feel...I say go for it. If you deem that it wasn't an issue...then you can start drinking it again.
Not trying to be rude, though...I think there might be some other issues going on. If you have acid reflux I would focus on addressing that if you are able. Acid reflux can lead to so much more complex situations and even cancer if not taken care of. And by taking care of it I don't mean long term PPI use...that has it's own set of issues. Figure out why you have it. Is it diet, weight, stomach or esophageal ulcers, stress, etc?. And it usually isn't low stomach acid like a lot of people like to think.
If you have high cortisol levels in the morning, that could be problematic and you might have sleep apnea. I know I am not giving too much in the way of solutions...but it does seem like you might have more serious issues than you think. Glad you don't have diabetes...but there are definitely other things out there.
I hope you figure it out man. I will echo the guy that said get some electrolytes in the morning. That really helped me out a lot. And if you decided to abstain from the bean juice...and you have been a heavy coffee drinker. Just know that you may have some withdrawal type issues. Mostly headaches...but that is where the electrolytes can help out.
Good luck! Let us know what you decide to do.

Add more fiber to your diet and improve your gut health. It's almost a guarantee there is no need to cut coffee.

Everyone processes caffeine different, just try some discipline if you like coffee. I do tea at 8 (wake up at 5), coffee at noon on workdays. 1 big mug of each. No caffeine after that, I sleep great. On the weekends I cut back, just coffee in the morning, early. Nothing after that. Maybe if you cut it down it'll feel like more of a treat than a habit.

Are you not potty trained?

I was having the same issues as you. Now I start day with a glass of water, then a protein smoothie, then a cup of coffee. SO much better. Has cut my reflux to almost non-existent and helps with the high cortisol symptoms.

Fiber, a serving of fermented food per day (yogurt, kefir, kombucha, natural kraut), and decaf. I think the whole coffee and morning BM thing is mental. I get the same effect with decaf.

Coffee contains acids shown to boost levels of the hormone gastrin, which stimulates these involuntary muscle contractions in your stomach to get your bowels moving. And it happens with both regular and decaffeinated coffee.
Interesting. Thanks.

filtered coffee is actually good for health overall and 1 cup in the morning is not affecting your sleep.
if you want better sleep create a good sleep hygiene routine that involves a very cold room, complete blackness or sleep mask, ear plugs and no electronics 30-60 min before you want to fall asleep. you can also look into higher dose melatonin which is actually good for you.

Self control! Betting you have never lost your keys or are delinquent with library books.
Well done!

No, but I have gone from half-asleep to aggressively yelling at someone because they aggravated me after me not getting my morning coffee.
