Again, is this legal? Technically yes.

Mashing grass behind the ball and improving your lie isn't legal and needs to be called more often. Everytime he's in contention this is a topic. It was egregious yesterday when they called it out on the broadcast after he grounded his club behind the ball 9 times before actually addressing the ball with intent to swing.

The trenching thing is something Kisner and most of the podcasters will talk about and everyone seems to point to Wyndham about it.

He's clearly a cheater

Yeah. He’s clearly improving his lie and I wish that someone was willing to penalize him for it.

Yeah so the way I understand it, it’s legal to just set your club behind the ball, but not allowed to apply pressure. But he’s giving himself an out by just acting indecisive and setting multiple clubs down multiple times. Sorry, but you’re only fooling the foolish, and daring the rules officials to do something about it.

And yes, other people do it, but very few to the level Wyndham does.

Just start making examples of people and it would stop.

Link?

Nobody is arguing that Wyndam isn't a good golfer. They all are. But you have very little information outside of golf on determining who you like and when one of them tears up clubhouses and breaks clubs and openly cheats at the US Open he wins, then it's pretty easy not to like him.

I'd be curious to see a link of Scottie, Tiger, Phil pretending to look at the grass PAST his lie just so he can stomp on the grass behind his ball. Ridiculous.

Is there anyone on the PGA tour that people actually like aside from Spieth?

So you like one guy and that means that there is nobody else out there that anyone should like? Are you really baffled that there are guys on tour people like other than Spieth?

You think Speith is the only player people like on Tour?

In no particular order, here are some guys pretty universally liked by everyone

Ricky Fowler
Webb Simpson
Viktor Hovland
Gary Woodland
Sam Burns
Adam Scott
Scottie Scheffler
Tony Finau
Max Homa
Tommy Fleetwood
Peter Malnati
Justin Rose
Cameron Young

There are certainly more.

GTFO

Slamming a wedge after a bad shot is nothing. Have you ever heard of Bobby Jones?

That is not the same as tearing up a clubhouse.

I swear people get dumber every day.

I saw a Pic and it only showed where he'd put a club through woven cane panels on 2 locker doors. Poor behavior, but "tearing up a clubhouse" is exaggeration. And while golf is a more gentlemanly game, do people hate the baseball or football player who does the same, or likely even worse? In those cases people often look at it as passion, a fire to win and caring about the game and the team.

He didn't tear up some lockerroom in a clubhouse built 2 years ago. He destroyed lockers at a club that prides itself on its history. They were lockers that have been there for decades. He could've gotten some forgiveness if he owned up to it, but he didn't, and that is why people don't like him. From what I remember, he didn't apologize or offer to pay to fix the lockers initially. Then, whenever it was brought up, he kept referencing it as if it was something that happened to him rather than something he did. He kept asking that everyone move on from it. That is easy to say when you are the perpetrator.

When you take all of these things he does separately, he doesn't seem that bad. When you add them all together, he just seems like a giant prick.

Maybe just hold yourself to a high enough standard to not tear up locker rooms that are 100 years old and purposely not updated to maintain the historical aspect of the clubhouse? Like the 150 other players that were using the locker room that weekend….

Oh and then when you get called out on it, take responsibility, not act like you’re the victim while taking no action until the club essentially bans you from the property.

The answer is in your very own statement. You know it's wrong and you know why it's wrong. And Wyndham Clark does too. But some people are just donkeys.

Agreed, he may be an a-hole, but he is incredibly talented player.
