What are your current club distances?
Driver: 255-265
3W: 230-240
2I Hybrid: 200
3I: No idea. Don’t hit it.
4I: Ditto
5I: 190-205
6I: 175-190
7I: 160-175
8I; 145-160
9I: 130-140
PW: 115-120
SW: 100-115

PW for me is a struggle. Carry distance is tight with it so I’ll just dial down a 9I if I’m in that range.

The iron ranges are me taking a normal swing vs me trying to go full send. If I’m around 200, I’ll just use the hybrid instead of the 5I.

Need to add a 56 or 58 in the bag.

Irons are TC-930s.

re: What are your current club distances?
Average carry distance starting at 4 iron and going down. Woods are total.

D: 268
3w: 239
3h: 220
4i: 199
5i: 189
6i: 176
7i: 160
8i: 146
9i: 132
PW: 121
AW: 115
SW: 97
LW: 86

Could probably go with a weaker AW for better gapping there, but I have pretty good distance control with my wedges, so it works for now.

Edited to correct the woods. I recorded total distances for those.

re: What are your current club distances?
All distances are the furthest I typically feel like I can hit the club.

Driver: 240+
3W: 230ish
3I: 215
4I: 205
5I: 185
6I: 175
7I: 165
8I; 155
9I: 140
PW: 125
50: 115
SW: 105
60: 70

Driver is a mystery to me, most drives look exactly the same, but most times I only hit it about 240. But I always have 2 or 3 drives in the 280 range. 3 wood I can hit further, but I don't generally try.

I don't like hitting from less than 100 yards for my approach shot. That 30 yard gap between sand and lob wedge kills me. And less than 60 it's all feel. I love 100 yards with my sand wedge. So I typically lay up to there if I can't reach the green.

re: What are your current club distances?
Obviously the totals depend on conditions. So these are all carry with normal, smooth swings.

Driver: 270
4W: 240
3H: 225
3i: 215
4i: 205
5i: 195
6i: 185
7i: 175
8i: 165
9i: 150
PW: 140
50°: 130
54°: 115
60°: 100

That’s 14 clubs. Depending on the course and conditions, I’ll pull with the 4W, 3i, or 50°. Irons are Miura TC201s. So not strong lofts or anything.

Driver: 280-300
3w: 240 off the deck, 260 of the tee
3h: 220
4h: 200-10
5i: 190-200
6i: 175-185
7i: 165-175
8i: 155-165
9i: 145-155
PW: 135-145
AW: 120-135
SW: 110-120
LW: 90-110

I usually prefer to be short rather than long so my actual distance is probably 5 yards shorter, but those are the ranges I hit each club at.

re: What are your current club distances?
Driver: 270-280
3 wood: 230-240
4 iron : 200-210
6 iron- 180-190
7 iron- 170
8 iron- 155-160
9 iron- 140-150
PW- 120-130

My wedges are feel clubs for me so could really hit any of them inside 110, but full swing I’d say 48- 115, 54-105, 58- 90. They’ve become the best clubs in my bag in the last few months

I’ll preface this by saying those are the distances on my irons in the rare instance I make flush contact. I hit 7/10 iron shots fat and it is the most frustrating thing in golf. I know, I know, get a lesson. It baffles me that I can make pure contact with my sand wedge and spin it back a few feet when it lands, but continuously hit behind the golf ball with my irons, even my short irons, and even off the tee box.

re: What are your current club distances?

8i: 175

Hey Beaver, I have a question about distance.. I'm a pretty strong guy with decent club head speed, but I only hit my 8I around 150-155 while yours goes 175.

Now I don't know my swing speed with my 8I, but I just don't get why yours and other real golfers get so much more distance with certain clubs.

I am definitely not know for hitting it pure or clean every time. I typically hit a tad behind the ball which I know isn't good. And I have the ball a tad back in my stance rather than closer to my backfoot.

So, what is the most likely reason a 10-12 handicap like myself isn't hitting my 8I 170-175?

Hitting the ground a bit before the ball? And I mean maybe juuuust a tad fat. Not talking about chunking here. But I do not typically hit the ball clean and take a divot in front of the ball like really good players.

Place the ball further back in my stance for a less lofted swing?

I just don't get it...

My driver is close to you on a good hit.. maybe not 285, but close. And there's no doubt your club head speed is probably a decent amount higher than mine on every club, but I was just wondering how much other factors come into play.

Edit:
Anyone can answer this if they want to...
I'm the type of guy that likes to have things figured out, even it it doesn't help..

re: What are your current club distances?
I comfortable hitting an 8 iron about 135.
I’m about plus or minus 10 per iron.

I average about 230 off the tee, but occasionally can hit one over 250 depending on topography, wind, etc.

My 5 wood is 185-195
My 7 wood is around 165-180

I’m not a big hitter.

55 Sand wedge 85 max.
50 Gap wedge 100 max
45 Pitching wedge 110 max

re: What are your current club distances?
The 8 iron I use (T300) is lofted the same as some tour pros 6 irons. “Irons” isn’t an all encompassing concept anymore, they are lofted so much differently and that will effect the height and distance

re: What are your current club distances?
I’d trade distances right now if I could make consistent contact with the ball, because more often than not I’m hitting it the same distance that you are with your irons because I’m catching it fat as hell.

That’s why it’s a damn celebration when I just break 90

re: What are your current club distances?
I play with Ping G25 irons. I really don't know if people like Beaver play with less lofted irons.

That def would make a huge difference too of course.

But I guess I'll throw out my list.

D 270
3W 235
5W 225
3H 215
4I 190 (worst club in my bag for some reason, think I always over swing)
5I 180
6I 170
7I 160
8I 150
9I 140
PW 130
52 115
56 100 (I usually use my 52 degree from 50-115 yards, I suck back hitting my 56 full. Only use it for certain chipping situations, it's a Mizuno with way too little bounce, need a new one with more bounce)

re: What are your current club distances?
Driver-240
3w- 230
3h- 215
4i- 190
5i- 180
6i- 170
7i- 160
8i- 150
9i- 140
PW- 125
AW- 110
SW- 95
LW- only around green

Just got fitted for a set of T300’s with regular flex shafts (I’m 60 years old). Numbers may get a little better due to stronger lofts in that model and better matched shafts. Yesterday I did hit 3 or 4 275 plus drives which is not my norm.

Breaking 90 is good. Probably puts you in top 35-40% of golfers.

Golf is hard.

Spin is big. Getting correctly fit will let your irons carry and land soft without floating from too much spin caused by your speed.

This is why I usually aim for middle of all greens. If I catch it flush, on back. If solid middle, slight miss front.
