I think you are misunderstanding...your games don't disappear, but you won't be able to play any of them until you check after that 2 days.

They don't cease to exist, you just can't play them until you check back in.

Here's the link and quote, RTR.

With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.

esp with the kinect, always online and the camera always on with children running around
My main point is that without actually knowing the console requirements, parents will buy the Xbox One as a Christmas gift and 24 hrs later, it'll stop working.
That situation = pissed off parents

I realize you are a special case, but how?
In this hypothetical when my power came back on my internet will as well, so when I turn my xbox back on it will do the check and everything will be fine. I don't see what the problem is. I doubt you need a strong internet connection to do the check in. If my internet lags behind and doesn't come back on for while I think I can keep myself entertained without video games for a day or two.

To other gamers, yes. To Microsoft, not so much.
I just have a dream of no 12 year olds screaming in my headsets.

say someone has a vacation home, so no need for internet out there since they are only there a few weeks a year or your internet goes out for a day or two which can happen for all kind of reasons but you still want to play.
Also in europe esp eastern europe the avalibilty of internet is not that great

Here is a fun fact.
Only 71% of American homes are wired for the Internet.
That is 29% of American homes that Microsoft automatically loses.

How much of the 29% without are going to buy consoles?

I just think in the time we live in I bet it will be very rare for this to happen.
I understand the situation you mentioned earlier, but that seems like a rare case.
Say the parents buy it because they have small children who love the kinect games. They would probably put this in a central location in their house which will ultimately have some way of connecting to the internet.
If they are buying for their child in their early teens, most of these kids already spend majority of their time playing online.

It is still 91 million potential buyers already lost to Microsoft.
