I love HoI4 but it doesn't have anywhere near the level of freedom/RP that CK does. Not really comparable other than being a Paradox strategy game.

So you took the Irish and turned them into Alabama?

I had no intent to get it until I saw it was free on Game Pass. Same with Microsoft Flight Sim and AOE II Definitive Edition.... which I bought on steam before I realized it was on game pass.

I was watching a Quill18 livestream. His character had twin daughters and a son. Son is shaping up to be a really great heir, married to a daughter of the king of France etc, boom finds out he's having an affair with one of his sisters. Sister gives birth to a son with scales.

Ok, maybe no one else will find out. Boom, son is having an affair with the other sister as well. Everyone finds out. Both daughters and son are arrested by their respective spouses and executed.

At least the son had a son with the king's daughter so his next playable character has a claim to the French throne.

I picked this up after watching Quill and Pravus stream it. I was absolute dogshite at CK2, but I’m having fun with CK3’s greater focus on characters and RP. I still don’t know what I’m doing, but it’s just as fun to collapse an empire as it is to build one.

You guys can buy the xbox games pass ($1 for your first month) and play CK3 on PC to try it out. I'm going to download it and play this weekend. I really enjoyed 2 so I'm hoping 3 will be fun. I also hope it's not too easy to map paint.

I would watch some YouTube instructional videos. It took me a while to learn the ins and outs of CK2 but it's well worth it.

I never will forget I had one of my rivals try to have me assassinated and it scarred my guy. I didn't have him arrested and killed though. I made friends with his wife, then kidnapped her, and their 2 sons and had them killed. He became depressed then killed himself.

You can do whatever you want. There are no win conditions in this game besides grow your dynasty. As soon as the last member of your dynasty dies it’s game over.
