Realism is generally the antithesis of fun.
It's okay to ground your game in reality somewhat so that its recognizable and you can relate to what is going on. However, once you cross the barrier into realistic tedium, it's a dumb fricking idea.
I have to pay attention to a fuel gauge in real life. It's not a big deal, but I would never describe it as euphoric.
I can't imagine that some of these leaks are real because it sounds like a total distraction from the core gameplay loop, but I also spent far too much time searching for chewing tobacco and tin cans in shacks in RDR2 so who can say for certain?

It's completely unfair to judge a game, particularly a huge game, from a few seconds of random footage, but the general consensus is that the little we've seen looks absolutely like a stock GTA game.

You're gonna take 13 years and make the most expensive video game of all time, it had better have SOMETHING to wow you besides just details and graphics.
And no I don't consider the beer having visible carbonation when you zoom in something new and meaningful.

In a weird way, I think if GTA 6 is meh, it might actually be a good thing.
Maybe we can reconsider this notion that billion dollar budgets and decade long dev cycles are somehow the greatest thing on earth.
We have gotten to a point where we no longer see some of our favorite titles and developers producing because they have to make it bigger and better.
I’d rather have 4 30 hour experiences that slowly iterate on one another over a ten year period instead of a single bloated but ultimately underwhelming entry that doesn’t properly utilize the time and money allotted to it.
It’s like everyone looked at Duke nukem forever and said “let’s do that.”

Some new leaks from today
I guess I should add that its doubtful these are from the latest build of the game. The UI seems mostly like place holders. We do know from one of the songs that plays on the radio on one of the leaks that it is at least from January 2025.

You've seen a few clips of an old build not exactly damming evidence. Also the game hasn't been in development for 13 years it started in 2019 but was likely pushed back due to COVID. So more like 5 or 6 years

They should go full realism, the credit card reader at the pump is broken so you have to pay inside and you get stuck behind someone buying lottery tickets for 15 minutes.
