They just cut out finished content for the game and are selling it back to you.
It’s one of the scumiest practices if not the single most scum move these companies do.
Rockstar isn’t the first to do this though not even close, it just sets a bad tone since so many eyeballs are and will be on the game
Yep. They're going to have no issue making money off this game, but they still felt they needed to up-charge part of the base game.

All I know is this game better come out of the gate being universally hailed as a masterpiece with little to no contention as to its quality as a video game and it better be the most optimized title to release this entire generation from the day it launches. It would be acceptable imo for standard ps5s to run the game at a locked 30 FPS and pro versions to have an option to let you uncap it and rise at times to maybe 45 FPS.
This is the expectation and the standard rockstar is being expected to meet here and they played into for their part.
If it doesnt live up to all of this both the quality side and the technical side its going to be one of the most entertaining category five meltdowns in gaming history

You are correct. Based on how they've handled this with no physical version, locking part of the game behind an upcharge so the base model of the game is $100, not really showing ANY gameplay at all before preorders were available, etc, the game must be perfect right out the gate.
I won't be buying it unless there is a physical edition, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, so they've already lost some purchases.

I figured it'll debut similar to red dead 2. I would honestly be surprised if it comes out janky.

Ultimate Edition may be worth getting when it's on sale for 70 or less.
You realize GTA V was still selling full price up for most of the last 13 years. Good luck.

Not sure why you'd feel this way. They've given you no reason to believe it has solid gameplay.

you could've gotten the UE for $85 by purchasing the 4 $25 PSN gift cards from Sam's Club / Costco.

Popped back in this thread for the first time in a while and holy shite we’re STILL talking about this?

Yeah I did similar, had a $20 off code on $100+ at BestBuy so grabbed the $100 PSN gift card for $80 and pre-ordered the ultimate edition.

The biggest problem to me with the GTA formula is how insanely structured the missions are.
They create an open world sandbox where you have a ton of freedom and then you start up a mission and it's completely rigid and on rails. You are required to follow a strict set of steps and directions of where to go and what to do and if you deviate even a little it's mission failed.
Doesn't even feel like I'm playing the game, just following a checklist of detailed instructions.
I would prefer missions that had a lot more freedom like they give you some objective and it's totally up to you to make the objective happen.
But that really doesn't work because they want to force you to tag along with NPCs who need to chatter in your ear.
I think the biggest example of this valid complaint is the mission when you chase down your boat.
No option to cut them off via another route, so many ways to fail it but only one way to succeed at it.
All while the characters are screaming at each other.

Yes. It's the only thing available to discuss about this game. There literally isn't any other news to discuss. Nothing else has been announced. The only thing you know about this game is they are charging $100 for the base game and there won't be a physical edition.

Sadly the game could be completely broken and terrible and it will still smash every sales record. I don't think it will launch that way, it will probably have some bugs and glitches and weirdness just to the sheer scale of it, but none of that will matter.
Look at Cyberpunk 2077 for example. That game launched totally broken and obviously rushed and incomplete. It made major international news as a laughing stock, the name itself became synonymous with broken, they pulled it from stores, was probably the biggest shite show launch in gaming history save Diablo 3 and it still sold over 20 million copies anyway, before "fixed' it with the expansion and sold another 20.
The hype for GTA6 makes CP2077 look like child's play too. The quality and polish of the game will be almost inconsequential to it ultimate sales.

The rockstar company has given me every reason to just trust the process.
I get being nervous though but let's wait until after this netflix showcase.
