I got it even though I lament that closure so much!

ETA: One of very few places for which I was willing to wait in line.

Same. One of the best restaurants in New Orleans regardless of price IMO. What a loss for the city when they closed. We bought their cookbook but it seems as though there was no editor on the project. We used it once or twice and put it on the shelf

you don’t “get” R&Os? What’s there to get? It’s good food in generous portions in a casual atmosphere for reasonable money LOL

Ate there twice and wasn’t impressed. RB poboy just isn’t that good. Had other stuff that wasn’t good enough to remember. Gave it a shot, not for me.

I have it as well. I know I made the shrimp and grits app with the fried grit cake. One of may favorite dishes there. I loved their fried seafood. It was light and crisp. Per the cookbook, they used Louisiana Fish Fry "cream meal". A good while ago, I tried to find it, but it was only sold in restaurant size bulk. I need to look into that again. I've never seen it in stores.

Really hard to narrow it down to just one, but I'll go with one close to my house and say Liuzza's on Bienville. I've had many things on their menu and have never had a bad meal and those fish-bowl size frozen mugs of beer are a great selling point for me.

Everyone has different taste, but it’s usually regarded as the best in the area.
Their fried seafood dishes are great. Hell, even their pizza is pretty good

I think it's very find cornmeal without any flour. As I recall, you had to buy 25 lbs.

How's that different than say, Zatarains regular original fish fry, which is simply corn flour?

I don't think it's quite as fine as corn flour. I've used some fine grind cornmeal, but I don't think it was quite cream meal. I'd never heard of cream meal until I read the cookbook.
