this is what he's looking for, but these are from Cotten's in L.C.

You beat me to it.

I hate those thick cut onion rings but the ones from Cotton's are so good. They're more like shoestring onion rings.

Charlie’s Steak House is the standard.

Desi Vega’s. Had them at Desi’s this past weekend. Very good.

Another good BBQ joint with great fried onions is Murky Waters in Ocean Springs, MS. Onion danglers, I believe?

Head down to Morgan City. Danny's still has the same great thin onion rings.

Brew Bacher’s Bluebonnet. Not on the menu but they will do them for you. Not sure of the other locations.

I’ll say it again, try City Cafe in BTR, then get back to me. The best Shoestrings Onion Rings in BTR.

'm tickled that you remembered Dannys. I worked there in high school and their onion rings were fresh cut every day. Dipped in the chicken flour and fried. Same seasoning as the chicken, four parts salt to one part cayenne. Good stuff! Their rice dressing was also made by hand every day.

Best onion rings we ever had. We moved there in 86, right around the corner from Danny's, and it became an instant favorite. I wonder if the two or three still open in S. Louisiana still make them the same way.

Unfortunately, mom's in the process of transitioning right now. It just started last night, so she won't be able to enjoy any of these awesome suggestions, but I sure as heck am going to try them out

Thanks to all that have responded.

We got some about a month ago, and they were big old slabs. Maybe they'll cut them to order?

Cotten's are awesome, but if you only make as far west as Crowley give Frosto's a try
