Haven't had the 11. Probably the 12 is the first batch I had.

Have had some great pours tonight. The 15 4r Le small batch and the Jim single barrel pic were both delish. Time to change gears a tad.

Thanks to the BSOBR guys for sampling the Calandros knob 12 yo. I really liked it there so I am putting it up against the 2014 Calandros single barrel and some other personal favorites.

Why does the label say it is aged nine years?

For any of the Mississippi guys out there, we'll be getting a whiskey group together for some events, dinners and private barrel selections. We'll largely be starting with the metro Jackson area, but already have one of our guys in Hattiesburg who will be getting some things together then probably branch out into other areas of the state.

If you're in the magnolia state and interested, drop us a line at whiskeysocietyofms@gmail.com and we'll keep y'all updated.

OPD - KC 12 Calandros pick
it's been a minute since I cracked open last years Calandros pick but I think I prefer this one. This is really enjoyable neat, I remember preferring the 2014 with a cube or splash of agua.

The display is a little confusing. They have 3 different bottles of KC. One is the 100 proofer in the wood box that says "thank you Louisiana". Then they have the two SB with the 9 yr, 120 proof label. There is a handwritten sign that distinguishes the 10 yr and 12 yr. the 12 yr also has "selected by mark and Taylor and Calandro". I guess KC wasn't up for making new labels

I bought out St Martin of Gold while I was there. It's terrific stuff.

I'm going on a cruise in February out of Puerto Rico that stops in St Maarten, St Thomas, St Kitts, St Lucia, and Barbados. Hopefully I'll have some look finding the Gold when I'm there. Is there a specific shop I should look?

There are 2 places to look in St. Thomas. Main Street in Charlotte Amalie. Big flea market at the beginning and a street full of shops including a store called AH Riise which is likely where you will find some Blanton's. Then there is the Havensight Mall. This is where most of the cruisers shop. There is another place called the Crown Bay Center but I have never been there and can't speak to what they have.
