Looking for a good go to of when to add each whether before or after the crawfish or if after how long I to soak. TIA

Potatoes
Sausage
Garlic
Frozen corn
Mushrooms

I didn’t list citrus bc that will be added with initial seasoning. Thx again.

Potatoes, garlic, and onions when you add the seasoning. If the potatoes are small add just before the crawfish.

The test of your list, when you cut off the fire to soak.

I do potatoes, garlic and sausage first. Mushrooms when I add the crawfish and frozen corn when the crawfish come to a boil.

A lot of people add the corn once they cut the fire but I didn’t care for it that way.

I do everything on the initial drop except the frozen corn. Keep it simple

Potatoes first, 4 minutes later everything else. 11 minutes later dump the bugs in. Perfectly cooked sides everytime.

I like to boil my veggies first then crawfish. I prefer spicy crawfish but not overly spicy veggies.

Potatoes

I toss them in while adding all the seasoning to the water.

Sausage
Garlic

Drop these after the crawfish go in.

Frozen corn
Mushrooms

Both go in after I cut the flame.

Potatoes/onions/garlic in with seasoning (1 jar of zatarans powder boil, 8oz liquid concentrate, 2-3 baggies of boil spices, 3lemons halved, 3 oranges halved). Rolling boil for 15 minutes, then crawfish, sausage, and mushrooms go in. Fire to max until the first sign of a good boil. Kill fire, drop in frozen corn. 5 minutes later, put in frozen shrimp or crab legs. Soak crawfish for a total of 20-25 minutes. Everything comes out perfect. This is the basic “cook em till they float, soak me till they sink” method.

This is perfection.

I have always wondered how to add jalapeños to the boil. Do I add an entire small jar? Do I do it with seasoning? This is what I want input on.

I also want to know how to mix with lemongrass and Asian spices. I just want to try something new.

Potatoes and garlic at the start

Sausage, corn, and mushrooms at the soak when you cut the heat off.

We bought a bundle of fresh asparagus and a bag of fresh green beans just to screw around and throw in tomorrow.

Anyone done these and know the best time to do so?

Apparently I am in the minority here. I boil everything but the bugs in a separate batch before the crawfish with half the jug of dry zatarans. Pull all that shite out and then boil the crawfish with the other half of the zatarans added in.

Never had a complaint and never had them under or over hot.

I boil all my sides first.

I light the fire.

Dump inHalf jug of regular zatarains powder, potatoes (I cut them in half), carrots, garlic, onions. Once that gets to a boil I let it go for 15 minutes. Then i throw in mushrooms, sausage, hot dogs and frozen corn in with the other stuff and let it go for another 10 minutes.

Once that is done I pull it all out. Add the other half jug, bring to a boil and do the crawfish. Bring to a boil same let them go 3 minutes. Cut the fire and let them soak.

Of those ingredients listed, I'd have the garlic in my initial seasoned water and bring to a rolling boil for 3-5 min, add potatoes, give 4-5 minutes in boil, add mushrooms and Sausage in with crawfish, return to a boil and only boil 2-3 min (thick white smoke) Cut fire and add the frozen corn to help cool boil. soak 30 min or so.
thats just my style. I dont eat the corn and most of my guests dont like the corn
Hot AF.

I add the potatoes early on because I find it takes them longer to get soft.

I haven't found a difference when adding anythign else.

I drop pretty much the rest of it with the crawfish.

Same, I have people that are allergic and a few that attend sometimes with religious issues (lots of adventists in my area) with shellfish. Do sides first.

Frozen corn
Rarely in cooking do Cajuns get anything wrong, but this is one of them. Frozen corn transformed into a mealy molar-sticking mess. Yes, it tastes fantastic, but frozen corn overcooked with dimples just doesn't do it for me. There should be an entire thread about how to treat corn. Funny though, even when overcooked, it's still one of my favorite things out of a boil.
