We’ve got one being built next door to Costco in Ridgeland so following this

Aldi winners for me are:
Cheese
(some) Chips
Chocolate
Breads
Dairy products
Some produce
Sandwich meats
Condiments (try their ketchup and tell me if you can taste a difference between Heinz)
Every one of these things are less expensive than most American chain grocery stores. People make the mistake of thinking that it is due to lower quality when it is actually due to their much more efficient business model. Same goes for Lydl.

all their cereal has no GM wheat or corn, no corn syrup, no artifical dyes and its like $1.19 for a box.
love it all but get my kid all the staples (froot loops, cinamin toast crunch, capn crunch) as generics and i dont feel like quite of as shitty a dad letting him eat it for breakfast
the cheese & salami section is great
love the 4pack mexican rice pudding
they had coconut water for $2 for a 20oz for along time and i used to scoop it up by the case
great bread section
fantastic fruit & veggies; $2 for a bag of potatoes or $1.50 for strawberries
wife love the 'surprise aisle' on wednesdays
we go ahead & pick up milk and other dairy while there
got some frozen chilean sea bass a couple months back it was THE BOMB but they havent had it in stock since
basically, you can live and make decent food only shopping at aldi.
hit or miss on meat; the chuck roasts are fine but i dont care for their pre-packaged ribeyes.
eta and they have the absolute best blue bell ice cream selection in town hands-down.
why? i have no idea but its nice to have 15 different flavors to choose from in pint size before decided to commit to a whole gallon.

not only this but the stuff is european standards; no corn syrup, GMO or artificial dyes in pretty much anything they sell.
millville is legit.

I got $7/lb skirt steak, marinated it myself, turned out great. Their cheese curds are fun. That's all I've really got from there.

they are converting the Winn Dixie on 190 in Hammond to an Aldi…the WD was actually pretty nice after they renovated but the patrons were what you’d expect in that part of town. I don’t predict success

I check their ad's for sale prices on meat. My wife likes some of their wine.

What's your take on Aldi?
I would choose our old Winn Dixie in Hammond over Aldi's every day of the week.

Their store brand nuts, Aldi's Nuts, are great.

We shop at Aldi a decent amount, but as others have said, you can't really go in with a mindset that you have to have xyz, because their products rotate so often.
I've found it's a lot cheaper than the typical stores that we shop at (Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Target). But, it is more inconvenient than all of those from a location perspective.

I agree! I cook in the crock pot with 2 cans of rotel and a cup of beef broth - very tender and tasty !

I’m hardly some vegan or tree hugger, but we’ve got to get away from this abomination torture meat.

There’s an Aldi by my house and I’ve never stepped foot inside. This thread has me taking notes and I’m going to try it out.

If you squeeze the chip bag softly you can tell what you will be getting inside.
If this is common customer practice then I think I found the issue

A little tip for ya. If you can't find a quarter for the shopping cart, take the back side of a metal key and push it in.

These are like crack with some wheat thins or pita chips. They have other good dips and hummus as well. Just find what you like.
Their frozen edamame and frozen cauliflower rice are normal buys for me. Good price on grapes always. Gatorades are cheap. I don’t buy meats from there. But for snack food and dinner sides they have some good choices. As well milk and eggs.

For kids with dye allergies, it's a great place to shop.
Our local one always looks like a North Korean grocery the day after Seollal.
Whoever compared it to Marshalls/TJMaxx is dead on.

Protein waffles stay in my freezer.
Just tried the Kevin's Korean BBQ chicken and orange chicken. Both were good.
Their grapes are usually really crunchy.
Kids like their chicken fries better than other brand.
I usually go in there for those specific things. I'll walk the store and see if anything new catches my eye.
