Lost me years ago when discontinued best thing there ; slow cooked prime rib served with platter full of great au jus. Guess decided in too much of a hurry turning tables to cook something good that takes a while to prepare.

They still do this as a special every once in a while. I had this at the Acadian Location a couple months ago.

Also, nearly every restaurant's service sucks arse on mother's day. And T.J.'s margaritas are the worst I've ever had anywhere.

When I've gone, it's usually after a night game and it's packed, so it's understandable that the service might be lacking because of all the people. The place is usually jammed after a game.

I would assume it's the same on a holiday, if they're open, such as Mother's Day.

People aren't going to pack a place if the food is terrible and/or the service is horrendous.

They're always courteous and the ribs are good. If there's something not right food or otherwise, ask about it. Don't go into "pissed off" mode, just ask about it.

My experiences they're always willing to make it right without a fuss.

I wish we had one here. I like that place.

Never had an issue with service, but it's not BBQ.

Someone recently said on here that they don't own a single smoker.

Oh, I know. My mom got the bbq chicken and it was just baked chicken with bbq sauce on it. She was let down, she really likes bbq chicken.

But all things considered, it's a decent place. I do like their ribs, like I've said before. It's the only thing I've had from there.

I've always heard that about Acadian...And both Acadian & Siegen TJ Ribs are only a notch better than Outback IMO. And Outback has slowly gotten extremely shitty.

I don't think you should judge any restaurant based on a holiday, especially one that is popular.

We went out to eat yesterday, but picked a hole in the wall type place that had 4 other tables going when we were in there. Drove past several "name brand" restaurants with lines out the door for people waiting

This.

TJR's blends in nicely with the Baton Rouge dining scene.

I went on a Saturday evening a year or so ago, non-holiday, with a group of friends. Maybe 7-8 of us. My friend ordered a shrimp poboy plan, just shrimp and bread. He said that exact thing to the waiter. The waiter brought out a completely dressed sandwich and his exact words were "this will be alright, won't? It's not that big of a deal" My friend sent it back of course because it wasn't what he ordered. 10-15 minutes go by and he comes back and says they dressed another sandwich, I'm having him remake it again. By this time our group is finishing eating, and he still hasn't gotten his food. His sandwich was comped, needless to say, but I'd never seen a waiter do that.

He wasn't OT rich back then though. No one would ever make that kind of mistake again.

My daughter paid her way through school there. But this was back in thelate 90's. Stopped by there on way to Fla. for lunch. Was good but again this was in 2003.

The crowd changed drastically since they now offer $.99 margaritas.

This. The quality of their ribs seems to have gone down over the years as well. They taste a lot like Chile's now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for a national chain, but it doesn't speak well for a local joint supposedly known for their ribs.

I ordered a brisket sandwich on ciabatta bread. The bread was literally so hard I could not eat it AT ALL. Hence the reason I referred to it as a hockey puck.

They are living off the name amd reputation made in the 80s and 90s, but that tank is running dry. I've been to the seigan location twice this year and both experiences were equally as bad as the op. I won't be returning to either location

Stick with their steaks, beef ribs, chicken wings (sauce on side) and fried green tomatoes and you'll be pleased.

Finish it off with Oreo ice cream pie.
