Been wanting to make a gumbo for a while now but I’m open to other suggestions. I’m kinda having chef’s block right now and just can’t think of anything else to cook. Give me some ideas.

A good ole shrimp and corn soup sounds good.

NolaTiger52’s cooking squirrel, evidently.

If you can’t source those, how about some sort of stuffed squash or eggplant, with ground beef or sausage? ‘Tis the season and a FDB ground meat challenge is incoming.

This was supposed to be lunch but last minute made lunch plans, so dinner.

And also this, which was the original dinner plan.

It is beautiful today.

Smoking ribs and armadillo eggs, grilling burgers and wings, and trying to drink enough to make my head stop hurting.

I bought 25 lbs. of shrimp yesterday and will boil 5 lbs. of them today after the Saints game. I'll also go with the usual stuff, corn, mushrooms, potatoes, sausage, etc.

Wash it all down with some ice cold beer and call it a day after the Saints game is over.

cooking (seasoning) an empty pit.
I cooked ribs and turkey wings in last night to get it good and greasy.

I’ll probably throw something easy like sausage on it later this evening

gotta say this Home Depot special cooks pretty well, holds temp nicely and is easy to clean up

About to sear off a sirloin tip roast and throw it in the oven with some carrots and shrooms. Serving over mashed Yukon Golds with some roux peas and a salad on the side.

also I was able to salvage some nice cast iron wheels, a 90deg stovepipe and some wire spring handles off the old high rent pit that finally rusted out. If anyone wants them I’ll throw them in my truck

Hammond/BR

I also have the porcelain/wire grates that are in good shape

all this was from an Oklahoma joe

I have some pork chops that need cooking, but I’m not feeling very inspired at the moment. It’s early, though.

You still have the stovepipe? I have been refurbishing a Joe I found on side of the road and feel like it needs a little more length on the exhaust pipe.
